Erin's Hot Tub Party

Here's a little flashback for you. If you lived through the '80s (in America, at least), you remember Bartles & Jaymes wine coolers. Their TV commercials were always funny. Not hilarious, but droll.

Anyway, I sent pictures of B&J coolers to Tzratzk when I wrote up the spec for this illustration. They were ubiquitous at parties in the mid- and late-'80s, at least among my crowd.

Now let's talk about the real focal point of the scene. Erin wanted Mark and Leah to meet Christy, so she organized a party. She has her own motives, but who cares? I mean... really.

Kinda makes me wish I'd had a sister growing up. Ya know? Then again, the grass is always greener, so to speak. But I digress.

I think that's Mark, Paul, Christy, Leah, Erin. (because I doubt Christy would have her hand on Leah's ass.)

Another great illustration! Thank you for sharing it. B&J were big sellers in the liquor store I worked at during college (1980 - 1984), too.

Nick, could you please name the characters from left to right? Thanks.

Yeah, but wine coolers in general are passΓ©, so they don't advertise much anymore (not on TV, at least). But back in the '80s, B&J commercials were up there with the Wendy's "Where's the beef?" lady and the Energizer bunny.

B&J is still around.
