Resident Evil, Menus, and Barry

The past few days I've been drawing and coding the pause menu for Resident Evil: Code Erotica. It's one of the more complicated parts so I wanna get it out of the way while 8Fold works on the first few models.

When designing the menu, I wanted three things:


1. I wanted the menu to look like an old operating system. I still need to add the random bar graphs and doodads found on Resident Evil computers, but the baseline functional parts are complete.

2. I wanted to make sure it looked similar to the old resident evil menus. While it isn't a 1 to 1 match to any game in the series I think I captured the general feel, which will become closer as placeholder assets are replaced with their final versions.

3. I wanted it to be its own thing. Balancing this one with the previous two is a little tough, but since the gameplay has some very different elements it needed to function just a little bit differently. For instance, you have one gun that you load different ammo types into.

The ammo can have VERY different uses, some of which were never in the original games.

For the rest of the night I'll be working on this, but tomorrow through Thursday I'll be working on Zap and Andy. On Thursday I'll have a post about that! :D

I can't say I'm surprised with the results, but this means that Barry Burton is going to have an extremely significant role in RE:CE! Chris and Carlos will still have big roles, but Barry gets the biggest. 8Fold is actually working on his model right now so expect to see that in the future!
