These constructs—who now call themselves Biotes—approached every design choice with pure practicality. Operating under strict resource constraints, they found it completely natural to combine quantum and silicon-based technologies, alien organics, and the power of steam engines fueled by the harvested remains of the endless green forests left behind after the fall of organic civilizations.
