2024-07-19 22:05:27 +0000 UTCHe definitely doesn't dislike him, Ed (and James) are the most frequent guests on Richard's podcast, and in the episode they did together they mentioned going to his wedding. They just love making fun of him, because Richard is self-deprecating to the extreme and he finds it very funny himself. I'm a big fan of Richard, but I get why he rubs people the wrong way. He is a weird guy, with a weird energy, he makes things awkward and occasionally goes too far. The episode where he went on Off Menu is so good, because he drives Ed and James nuts with his terrible, but genuine, choices... and they play it in a way that multiple people thought he was just some random guy who won a competition and didn't understand the format.

Richard Herring's been very open in the past about spending most of his early to mid career feeling insecure about how he was doing and wanting to prove himself, and Ed's fully aware that they both have a potentially counterproductive competitive streak.
