A couple more notes! For live performances you should definitely watch some of the live Jackson 5 footage, however, if you want to stick with MJ as an adult: 1) Motown 25 - Jackson 5 Medley + Billie Jean are a MUST SEE. 2) Triumph and Victory tours (essentially the Thriller tour) are both incredible. But the footage isn't as high quality. Still, 100% live vocals and since you like the music from Triumph, you will definitely enjoy it! 3) Bad tour -- the Bad tour is, in my opinion, the peak concert tour for all artists PERIOD. I would recommend listening to the Bad album and then reacting to BOTH the 1987 Yokohama performance as well as the 1988 Wembley Stadium performance. There are of course repeat songs, the 1987 song has fewer songs from the Bad album, whereas 1988 is filled with them. Personally, I'd prefer to see Motown 25 + Bad tour first. But I would be thrilled to watch you react to any MJ content so long as you don't skip past too many amazing things!

Just joined specifically for MJ :) Regarding the budget, if I recall correctly Billie Jean and Beat it were financed by his record company. Thriller, however, was all Michael initially. He self-financed about $1million (when the avg video at the time cost about $50,000) because he wanted to revolutionize the medium of music videos, which he obviously did! But this was after the album was already out for awhile and already mega successful. The record company didn't want to invest more into this, so the only reason this was made is because Michael had such a vision and saw it through. And it sent the album and his icon status even more into the stratosphere!
