REACTING TO MADONNA FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!

The Reacting to Legends series continues with...MADONNA! HIGHLY requested artist on the channel, one of the most successful female artists EVER. I already spoiled my feelings about her/the music on my IG (Patreon members get access to my private IG account! request to follow @jcobreacts, then comment or DM your username to be accepted), but I won't do that here. Enjoy! Let me know your thoughts in the comments :)

And This Used to Be My Playground was from the baseball film, A League of Their Own, which she was in. The song played during the end credits of the film & actually made the footage their seem more moving.

Love this. Only thing I wanted to say, after u heard Vogue for the 1st time.... Gaga came way after Vogue & has been borrowing from it & Madonna throughout her career. Love Gaga too. Both are true superstars. When you see the Vogue video & see her do this LIVE you'll appreciate it much much more! :-D

So glad you listened to this! I agree with everyone else there are so many better songs that never went to number one. Most of my favorite songs never made it to number one (except Take a bow and Crazy for you)and the whole ‘ray of light’ is a must listen! You are absolutely right Papa don’t preach is about a teen pregnancy, not a true story, but the message behind it was true that Madonna was pro life.

Great frank reaction: just to inform: GET INTO THE GROOVE, LIVE TO TELL, WHO’s THAT GIRL and THIS IS USED TO BE MY PLAYGROUND and VOGUE are all from soundtracks of movies she was in. She has amazing, amazing songs but are not usually the singles. She is VERY prolific songs writer/ composer and many times released songs that were completely different from other things. She tends to write in riddles. She is very interesting

I can't believe that all of my opinions on those songs perfectly match yours haha. I love Madonna's early stuff and there are a few good later tracks too that didn't make this list. Madonna was one of the first women in the 80s to take control of her career and not have men dictate her path. She was such a strong woman who punched back hard and this is how she became such a legend in the beginning. She always pushed the envelope and crossed lines - the video for Like A Prayer was banned in many places. But she's an ok singer with some great songs and some terrible ones too.

That's Babyface in the background on Take a Bow

I actually agree with this! Haha I'm always looking for meaning, regardless of if it's necessary

Your TS brain keeps making you over think stuff lol

Ugh, I wish something from the Ray of Light or Confessions albums made it on this list to really balance out your intro to her. I’m starting to see that getting a first impression by #1s alone can be misleading, but ya gotta start somewhere!

Madonna is a trailblazing legend. I may not be a fan of her music (except Expressyourself, American Pie, Open your Heart, and Frozen) but i recognize that she has pioneered pop culture and there will never be another madonna for that, i will forever be respectful of her name. Her song writing is just not for me and i agree with the word salad. Her production in song and live performance is her highlight i think. She is the Queen of Pop anyways but not really for me

Like a prayer, Ray of light, frozen, into the groove, La isla bonita, dress you up, erotica, sorry and hung up are my faves. They’re better than most songs here imo. You should definitely listen to ray of light the album. I don’t really care for a lot of the songs in this video either. She does have a lot of dancey songs but that’s more 80s Madonna and I guess they didn’t go #1 since they’re not here

James

Actually Madonna does write all her music. all of her albums except some songs from her first and second albums. When Gaga said that she didn’t mean that Madonna didn’t do those things (because Madonna is all of the things Gaga listed. she plays instruments she’s a producer etc) gaga just meant that they’re different.
