I made a little shmup mockup in December 2023, just for fun. One year later, an unreasonable passion has cultivated that seed into a handsome game. While still early, the distinct art style, and foundational design has great potential to bring joy to fans of the genre. In this tiny niche of the industry, that's the best reward I could ask for. Sure, I hope it can make a few bucks, but looking at the landscape of the current game market, it's evident that motivation driven predominantly by profit does not create good art. Money feeds the flesh, but art feeds the spirit. Understanding the importance of our spiritual condition, perhaps our passion is not so unreasonable.
After a year of mulling over the fundamentals, the real fun of level design and playtesting has only recently begun. I'm excited to see Death Vapor spring to life in 2025!
