After recent revisions to the weapons system, my current work has involved a lot of organizing and formatting assets for implementation. But, I do have some interesting refinements and new designs involving the enemy units, and their projectiles. It seems simple, but great care should be given to projectile designs, especially in a bullet hell style game where they fill much of the screen. Static assets really kill the vibe. Therefore, I'm creating a variety of designs that flash, spin, and jiggle. Even the simplest designs have at least 4 frames of animation, while designs with direction orientation, like missiles and arrow shapes have at least 16 frames to do a complete 360 degree rotation.
Currently, I'm working on a massive sprite sheet with all the enemy designs and attack pattern concepts to help me visualize the inventory in prep for actual level design. More immediate priorities keep popping up outside of the project, but we'll have more going in engine soon.
