I’m excited to present my first entry in a new Pixelminis series. Rocks and minerals was the most popular category in the selection poll. I gave a lot of thought to my approach for this series, as I want it to be artful and authentic, not just pixel studies of images from the internet. Therefore, to bring my own expression to the subject, I decided to focus on local rock formations that I’ve observed and photographed in person. That means it’s pretty much all limestone, but this magical stone will amaze with its endless variations in form and texture. These rocks and the greater formations they comprise tell ancient stories from their composition and eons of erosive processes. Without words, the stones speak.
I’m using personal photographs for reference and using a more realistic style than previous minis landscape series. I intend to treat each entry like a tiny window into a life-like world. Hope you enjoy!
