Another old image from the archive. Posting this because people seemed to dig it. And at the time, I wasn't too dissatisfied with it. It was before I had a tablet, so I actually drew each of the girls on separate scraps of paper & composited them all in the final.
The inspiration came from similar images where it shows multiple figures trying to escape some sort of expansion-causing menace, while also showing varying degrees of the transformation itself without it being a straight up sequence. And in that way I like to try & ride the line between weight gain & body inflation, I thought the girls that were further along would be presented spherically, thinking in terms of old, simple, b-movie practical effects. That's my excuse for the girl in the back being pretty much a fat orb LoL
At the time, I had the idea to follow this up with other retro movie posters with an expansion angle. The other two ideas I had were one that was a little more schlocky sci-fi, pre-Barbarella basically, & another that was a blueberry, but also like the old beach comedy/musicals from around that time. But they never got past the sketching phase.
