Fortunate Meetings - 7
Added 2025-02-28 05:06:06 +0000 UTCBeen a hell of a month, and I'm really missing those couple of extra days on all the other ones right now.
The wife and I bought a house, which we are very excited about. Less exciting is the massive amount of work that's needed to go into it. We don't make a ton of money, so any house we bought was going to need some work. The previous owners moved out two weeks ago, and it's still not in good enough shape for us to move in, despite all the time I've spent over there working on it. Maybe our standards are too high, but a home should be a place where you feel comfortable, and sharing a place with creepy, crawly, unwanted tenants is not my idea of comfortable. Thankfully, we have a pest control company in town that does excellent work. That should all be taken care of by the end of the week, and we can finish putting the place back together, install the new light fixtures that needed replacing (because I don't like lighting my rooms with fire hazards), and actually start living there next week. :P
As you may have guessed, all this hasn't left much time for writing this month, as I've been really strapped for time and didn't get nearly as much done at the beginning of the month as I had hoped since I knew the house was going to take some work. I'm going to try to get out another chapter/story tomorrow, but it may be on the short side if I do. After that, I will be completely tied up with moving until the fourth, so I don't want to do like I did that one time with the "I owe you a story" thing since there is little chance I will get it out the very next day. (it was necessary at the time, but I still hated it)
On to the story!
Yet again, I didn't finish out Fortunate Meetings this chapter as I had hoped, and it took a little bit of a side-story turn, but I think this was a fun interlude before the story's finale. It's also fun to see someone who is normally so self-assured get shaken up by someone being genuine, not because they were trying to be genuine but because that person doesn't know enough about the games played by the 'in' crowd to be anything else.
Enjoy!
