Diving into Kelly's "3 Days"

First, apologies for the break! I try to post at least once (and really at least twice) a week, but after cranking out the most recent Amy update I had to take a break. However, I'm getting back into it! Here's a picture of Flin and Kelly that I probably won't end up using (mainly because I expect to recreate it).

I wanna ramble for a bit about writing, which I haven't really discussed much before now.

I really like writing, but if there is one writing challenge I regularly run into with LLRR, it's trying to avoid making a scene feel too contrived. I believe I run into this most when writing for Kelly.

I know, contrived plot is basically part-and-parcel to this genre of writing, but I hate when it gets too ridiculous. Part of why I love Japanese visual novels is because they understand the importance of immersion. Many of them don't show any sex whatsoever until you're like 20-30 hours in, lol (I am not exaggerating).

On the other hand, it's really fun and easy to come up with a picture of Flin and Kelly doing it, and to let my subconscious mind "fill in the gaps."
---
"Oh, they got roomed together on accident while the band was on tour, and everyone complained but the 'band manager' (Sally) convinced them it was okay and after giving in to their lust, Flin and Kelly are now banging each other in secret."
---
That's basically all my mind needs to justify a scene like that when looking at a picture, but when the time comes to actually write it, suddenly I have to literally work out what the rooming situation is, or how the fuck Sally convinced them this was okay! And I know that if I'm lazy, and it feels too contrived, then eventually I'm asking you to suspend too much disbelief and immersion is ruined.

Immersion matters!

Amy's excuse was that Eric and Kelly are rooming together, while Stella and Flin are not allowed to room together. Julie can use the exact same excuse, except it'll make even more sense than Amy's did (I think a concerned mother would be more likely to room with the boy than have that boy room with her other daughter, lol).

Kelly doesn't have this excuse. The funny thing is, even though her sequence here is going to be a bit more contrived, this Kelly/Flin sequence was actually how the entirety of LLRR started. The scenes that I'm currently writing now were basically the first scenes I thought of back when this all began, and I'm just now finally getting around to actually writing them. Feels good, man!

But it also seems a bit ironic, that the concept that kicked off the entire project somehow doesn't belong as neatly as that of the other two characters who were added in later.

Anyway, hopefully you'll be fine with the excuse I came up with 3-4 years ago for Flin and Kelly to room together here.

And I'll try to post more soon! Later!
