The Pro-vaccine Republican Doctor Who Just Just Gave His Vote to RFK, Jr.
Added 2025-02-05 10:36:13 +0000 UTCOA1121 and T3BE57 - Senator Bill Cassidy is one of the few remaining Republicans in national politics that resembles a normal human being. He is a doctor, and is very pro-vaccine. And he had a critical hand in RFK Jr.'s confirmation process. There seemed to be a decent chance he might not vote for the brain worms that run RFK Jr.'s flesh suit, but in the end, he did. How did he get there? How did he justify it? It's an interesting story and it says a lot about where we are right now.

The T3BE answer is D: Much like with an aspen tree, you can tell it's theft by false pretences because of the way it is. https://youtu.be/_d8mjam7KG8 But fine, let's elaborate a little. Even though the thief never explicitly claimed to be the shopkeeper, by accepting the money, they implicitly falsely represented themselves as the shopkeeper, because any honest reasonable person who was *not* the shopkeeper would have called out the misunderstanding, and then leaving with the money establishes the intent to deprive the rightful owner.

2025-02-09 02:41:46 +0000 UTCFirst time playing on Patreon after being on bsky for a bit—has to be D. IIRC extortion has a very specific and technical definition I don’t think this would be it. Robbery implies force, not lies. I can’t imagine this is no crime because I can’t image our 16th century English forefathers would have thought this was cool and fine. So gotta be D

2025-02-06 17:53:55 +0000 UTCI’ve never hated someone more than I have listening to RFK jr rn. This is so hard to listen to knowing no one is actually going to stop this dumbass.

2025-02-06 17:44:38 +0000 UTCI’m so sick of this gaslighting bullshit of MAGA clowns having completely different definitions of research, data… etc. They are not talking about the same words and this guy is a dumbass for not seeing that he doesn’t acknowledge “evidence” as the medical community, as a whole, does. 🤦🏻♀️

2025-02-06 17:27:47 +0000 UTCThe real crime in the T3BE question has to be E. money laundering, because who the FUCK pays $350 for BOOKENDS??! In THIS economy??? That's like ten eggs!! Are they solid gold, Sally??? Of the actual answers, D.

2025-02-06 14:59:27 +0000 UTCTTtBE answer, second time playing along properly: my answer is D by process of elimination A. No crime - surely this is a crime somehow, if not, massive loophole B. Robbery - plausible but like Thomas said, no force involved so I'm not sold C. Extortion - extortionate price for sure, but definitely not the crime D. Obtaining property by false pretenses - immediately yes! The person accepted money under the pretense that they were the seller, whereas any reasonable person would say, "oh no, I'm not selling it, I just read the price tag. I think the person over there is who you need to pay."

2025-02-06 12:21:43 +0000 UTCThe idea that autism is caused by vaccines and therefore people refuse to vaccinate their kids upsets me so much. I've straight up had people say that around me, before I got my autism diagnosis (I am mostly vaxxed, probably missed a few). Do people hate autistic people that much? Why is autism so terrifying that you risk disability and death to "prevent" it?

2025-02-06 11:17:02 +0000 UTCRegarding the AIDS in Africa, I genuinely just said out loud, "that's disgusting". I'm from South Africa, where HIV/AIDS is a massive issue. To say that people are inflating numbers for money is so disgusting. What's also disgusting is that a nonzero amount of South Africans believe that having sex with a virgin will cure them, and therefore rape young people and infect them with HIV. It's just another part of the horrifying level of gender-based violence and rape in SA.

2025-02-06 11:13:27 +0000 UTCWelp, it's always possible for people who are determined to miss the point to latch on to a word that gives them a bug up their ass.

" yes Also I admit there's probably nothing she could have said to avoid being painted as an irrational black women, but I think using the word dangerous in that way gives them a really good moment to clip out of context and to grandstand off of

2025-02-06 10:30:14 +0000 UTCWould you agree that telling Black parents their kids don't need the same vaccines as white kids is dangerous and racist? If so, there's not really any way to sugar coat it. I think people who tune out her good points because she said the word "dangerous" and talked about her race would be being very racist, whether they understand that or not. For those people, I'm afraid her choice of language, tone, or argumentative tactics matters not one whit. As you've observed, you perceived her as emotional when she was completely calm. Others will perceive her as engaging in identity politics when she is simply trying to protect kids from dangerous racism. She could have Elmo and Grover on her lap helping to explain why _all_ the kiddies need the _same_ needles to help them grow up big and strong and vaccination starts with a V and that'll still be too "aggressive" or whatever

2025-02-06 00:19:21 +0000 UTCAlso I guess she was pretty calm on re-listen, so my bad for conflating too a bit

2025-02-05 19:08:11 +0000 UTCI think using the word "dangerous" and talking about her race will make a lot of people tune out any good points she made, and view her as just denying reality for the sake of identity politics or whatever.

2025-02-05 18:51:56 +0000 UTCThe rep who said his race science is dangerous was completely calm. She was also the only one with enough foresight and preparation to quote his own words at him and demand an explanation for those words instead of letting the brain worms wriggle around his points. "You said 'X', what the fuck is that about" is way more effective than "Didn't you say X? You sure, bud? You wanna think about that? Well how about you sleep on it and see if you feel like tellin' the truth tomorrow? Okay, nighty night, champ" As for the rep who was emotional about her kid, yes, she was emotional. Given that the entire Republican party platform can be reduced to Mrs Lovejoy and Maud Flanders fainting at a PTA meeting... that speech was right on the money for her intended audience

2025-02-05 16:51:13 +0000 UTCactually, they both probably call black folks "blacks", so I don't know if I do want to hear it. strike my request from the universal record please?

2025-02-05 13:14:04 +0000 UTCi know elon is going to consider himself the exceptional person with autism and not care what RFK says, but I'd still be curious to hear them discussing it. when I say curious, I mean, I'd probably need to be off my face to withstand it and would just want the highlights, but I'd wanna know.

2025-02-05 13:09:05 +0000 UTCThe representative who said his race science is dangerous and the one who got emotional about his vaccine science causing autism nonsense. I hate to say but I think both of those just give him and his supporters an opportunity to say people in power are denying reality because they’re emotional and dogmatic. Like it’s not fair, and there’s a degree sexism in it, but it’s like what Thomas has said in the past about anti-woke debate types. A lot of people just assume you’re more rational if you have the best point if you sound calm and unemotional, and naturally that privileges people who have less of a stake in an issue
