Episode 1006
Part 1! I watched 17 hours of Fulton Country Superior Court so you don't have to! Cohabitating lawyers Matt and Casey are here to break down many of the legal issues, from the mundane to the outright bizarre. These hearings were truly extraordinary. Some of the craziest courtroom drama to ever happen in the real world.
This episode is fantastic, I am recommending it to my husband as a example of how the new OA is better than ever. It was a tough listen but handled so well.

“Sir, do you believe she used an ATM, the drive-up window, or did she SHAMEFULLY walk up to the bank teller at the counter INSIDE the building?!”

For some reason, “why would I ever ask the district attorney where she got… five hundred dollars?” still has me in stitches several minutes after I finished listening

I did get a chance to watch all of the hearing and it seemed like the defense was using words that were open to interpretation on purpose. 'Entertain' and 'Personal relationship' as opposed to 'romantic relationship'. That seemed very dishonest to me.

there are no ads on Patreon. If you're hearing ads, you haven't subscribed to the patron only version!
Assuming you mean on the normal feed, yes they are dynamically inserted and we have absolutely no control over them. That's just how the industry is now.
HOWEVER, I for one really prefer that bad advertisers waste their money trying to advertise to our progressive audience. Honestly, I think it's a win-win-win. These advertisers are going to spend $x, we have no control over that. Would we rather those dollars go to conservative/shitty people, who actually have an audience susceptible to their messages? Or would we rather those dollars go to OA, whose audience is not at all susceptible to their message. Not only that, any dollars to OA should actually help Matt be able do more good, in the long run.

No problem! I can be the show's consultant on the deep south haha. The TLDR is that culturally, we're about 50 years behind civilized society, we have Communes of white supremacists just outside of town, and nazis regularly hold rallies downtown and march in the streets.

I *knew* it had to be a euphemism! I'm fully a Northerner, so thank you for this cultural context

This was SO good! I tried watching the actual hearing and could not absorb it. Thank you so much for the breakdown. Love this so much!

Are the ads dynamically inserted? Repeatedly getting ads to join the US border patrol in a podcast with an immigration lawyer as a co host is pretty funny.

I'm from the deep south and down here "entertaining" implies dating and sexually entertaining someone. Friends are visiting, sexual partners are being entertained.
