They suck about much as humanly possible now, but still managed to gerrymander themselves into a house majority. I think they’ll ultimately lose as gen Z increasingly dominates, but that won’t be for a fair bit, and they aren’t going to learn anything. They are just old and will die in the medium term. That certainly describes insurrectionists around me, who are not what the cartoon impression from the media would have you believe.

2023-10-20 15:16:58 +0000 UTCMy prediction: The GOP will implode and resemble the French far-right party; "The New GOP" will reform from the majority of the GOP base (ie. the left of crazy people (~75% of GOP voters) who will vote for whoever has an "R" by their name) and the Clinton style neo-liberals and resemble European conservative parties like in France or the UK; Preferably it will coalesce around Liz Cheney; I believe Cheney when she says that the GOP will have several terrible elections, and they need those terrible elections to reform.

Let the GOP burn, drown, whatever your preferred method of slow metaphorical execution, because they brought this on themselves and they would absolutely do the same thing were the situations reversed.
