OA717: LOCK HIM UP 4: Trump Gets Indicted, DeSantis Gets Spanked

HERE IT IS! Liz and Andrew begin the show by reacting to the news of Trump's indictment while we await the actual copy of the document.

After that, the team breaks down how Disney outmaneuvered that dumpy Trump knockoff (Ron DeSantis) with the aid of every law student's worst nightmare: the Rule Against Perpetuities!

This is a paid post on Patreon.

FYI, the Dukes of Norfolk have accumulated a number of minor titles as well as the dukedom. The eldest son and heir of a peer with one or more minor titles normally uses the most important of them and in his case it's called a Courtesy Title. The current Duke of Norfolk's son uses, as a courtesy title, Earl of Arundel (the Duke also holds two other earldoms, Surrey and Norfolk -- it's a long story). That's why the titles in the famous case seem so confusing. Courtesy titles are only used by the peer's eldest son; if his heir is his nephew, the nephew won't have a courtesy title. More familiar example might be Prince of Wales, eldest son of the monarch; but when the late Queen Elizabeth's father was still living, she did not have a special courtesy title and was not the Princess of Wales; she was just Princess Elizabeth.

Ann Sharp

As soon as she is old enough to walk and hold a magic wand 🪄, Disney needs to invite their new princess to attend a ceremony in which a holographic Tinkerbell hands over the keys to the magic kingdom to her highness.

I love the show with Liz. Really enjoy her perspective and the way your chemistry is developing.

Great breakdown of the Disney/DeSantis dust up. I'd read an article about it, but your analysis was so much better and helped me really understand how much of a great maneuver it was. Well done!

Simon Templar

A question to answer on the show: Can bill barr be indicted for obstruction of justice for his role in ordering prosecutors from investigating Trump in various cases? If not, why not?

Happy Indictment day!

Mmmmm. Donuts!
