RiaN Chapter 10

A few months after Naruto’s birthday, Orochimaru died. His death was a brutal blow because he had done so much for the village. His death affected so many people that it was as if another Hokage had died. Thousands of people lost their father. The man had made his own clan, and it was on par if not above, the other large clans of every single village.

…Wait a second. Was Orochi a fucking reincarnator like myself? That life he led was fairly different from the Orochi I knew, and it made a big enough change that if he wasn’t the protagonist of the story, it wouldn’t make sense. The guy invented guns, he invented a new chakra method to improve taijutsu, and he had a harem of practically every eligible woman in every village while ruling them from the shadows.

Well, it’s not like it matters now. He was dead, there was no saving him, and he couldn’t swap bodies because the problem wasn’t his body; it was his life force and soul. All I could do was give him a nod of the head and thank him for making this universe. Who knew if I’d end up with one of his clan members? The chances were fairly high. As long as I managed to stay alive and be above average, I was guaranteed to have women chase after me.

A few weeks before our ninja schooling started, I felt another change in my body as another part of my kekkei mora activated. I was lying in bed, still anxious about going to school, when I suddenly smelled the decomposing trash from the can on the opposite end of the building while I was sleeping on the second floor. With each second, I could smell a myriad of other smells.

The soap from the nearby bathroom. Sweat from the dirty clothes nearby. One of my siblings had farted four rooms over. I could even smell the arousal of one of the maids. The sense of smell was overwhelming, but slowly, as I grew accustomed to it, I knew I could weaken it. My guess was that I could now smell things ten to twenty times further than a normal person, while my sensitivity to different smells was easily hundreds of times higher.

I weaken my smell to only six times that of a normal person while keeping the extra sensitivity. It just meant I could more easily break down what a smell was when I smelled it. Trying to get back to sleep didn’t go well. A half hour later, I was woken up by someone hammering something inside the house, except it wasn’t hammering. I could hear my heart beating in my chest.

I went through the same overstimulation of my sense of hearing that I did with smell. My brother breathed in through his mouth while he slept. Someone was awake downstairs and had just opened the fridge door. A shinobi rushed past outside our home, not close enough to trigger anything, and it looked like he was making his way to the council building, most likely bringing a message. Someone sneezed on the opposite end of the mansion and it sounded like a bomb going off.

Getting that sense under control, my sense of touch was next. I could feel everything touching my body and could immediately know what it was. From the silk sheets to the cotton clothes I was wearing, even down to the build-up of skin cells on the back of my knee from not washing properly. Who washes behind their knee every day, though?

Taste was next. I could still taste the lingering food particles in my mouth hours after we ate. My sense of taste might be the only thing I’ll leave mostly intact at that ten times level. I felt my body continue to shift to its new changes as I stared up at the ceiling fan in my room as my vision expanded and contracted. This was the easiest to see the changes as it was tangible when I did change them.

I could not only zoom in to about ten times my normal vision, making it so I always had a scope in my eye, but I could also more clearly make everything out in perfect detail. It wasn’t a byakugan or sharingan, but the improvements to my other senses more than made up for them. I effectively had the Inuzuka dog nose bloodline except for all my senses.

Enhanced senses might not seem like it was all that impressive, but imagine smelling your enemies before they came into view, knowing that a liquid puddle was a ninja before the puddle even came into view. Knowing that something was poisoned based on the smell it gave off, if it had no smell then knowing based on the discoloration compared to other drinks. Ninja fights were battles of knowledge and by having stronger senses, I could know more about the enemy faster. Who knew if all of them wouldn’t evolve in some way similar to the byakugan except for all my senses.

Just as I was about to sleep, I felt something else change. This wasn’t the normal world, this was the ninja world. We had more than five senses, and my sixth was rapidly expanding. Chakra sense was the ability to feel people outside of the normal senses. I knew how many people were inside the building just by their chakra signatures, and it was the first time I knew how strong my father really was.

I knew he was the head of the Uzumaki clan, but that was about it. Now that I could feel the difference in chakra, I could tell the difference. His chakra was dozens of times larger than the second highest in the building, and the second highest was my mother. Compared to his children, he was fifty times, and compared to a civilian it was hard to tell how much, but hundreds if not thousands of times more wasn’t an overestimate.

It made me feel safer that we had this pillar protecting us from bad things happening. I couldn’t tell for sure, but I think he might even be close to a jinchuriki in terms of chakra. Once again, before I could go to bed, I felt the seventh power growing. It was something that no one else had… But it was something that the power I siphoned from the nine tails did, and my sense boosting kekkei mora was unlocking that ability.

My seventh sense, emotional sense. I could judge whether someone was malevolent or not by the nine-tails chakra inside my body. Using this sense felt like it would drain my nine-tails chakra; it wouldn’t be by much, but it meant that until I could generate the nine-tails chakra myself, I had to be careful not to overuse it. I waited another hour before I felt the changes happening in my body were done. I finally got to sleep.

The next few weeks flew by as I was still anxious about going to ninja school. I knew it would be different than the original Naruto. Not much was taught in the classes, there wasn’t much information known about what was taught, just that you only needed to know three basic ninja jutsu to pass. I doubted graduation would be that easy this time, especially since I chose a world where we couldn’t graduate until we were eighteen.

I woke up that day excited, took a quick shower before the rest of my family woke up, helped the chef make breakfast for everyone, and prepared myself mentally for the testing that would take place to become a ninja.
