2023-04-03 10:24:55 +0000 UTCThe blue flames being the souls of the dead is something you have to think about because ereshkigal was forced into being the god of the underworld, a responsibility she never wanted, think of it as Ishtar being the spoiled child that got away with everything while ereshkigal was forced into a responsibility from birth alone for thousands of years, she keeps those souls so she can feel like someone is with her. The souls of those she likes are the only beautiful thing in the barren wasteland she calls home

The other 4 either died off or left before fujimaru and mash showed up. If you look closer at the ED, you can see 4 unfamiliar faces behind gilgamesh walking. It's a nice Easter egg the anime added.

2023-04-03 07:39:37 +0000 UTCI want to simplify this a little more ereshkigal and Ishtar being two separate entities but think of it like senti and hua, they’re like yin and Yang, chaos and order, light and dark etc. remember how senti is able to have her own body even though she’s supposed to only be inside hua? It’s kinda like that ereshkigal main body is chained to the underworld and was only able to take over Ishtars body when night rolled around

She was stripped down for her attempt to conquer the underworld and was stabbed seven times in front of ereshkigal to show her ignorance of trying to conquer a world she had no control over theres more to this thats all interesting since this land of mesopotamia is the origin of civilization meaning all the lore behind gilgamesh, ishtar, enkidu, ereshkigal and more are the first pieces of myths and legends
