Project Idea - Jarrod Owen, Clan Elemental

The Gallery Patreon has been a little quiet this month while we wait for Bruins to complete his animated short. With that in mind I wanted to share a little update on future plans to keep everyone's anticipation levels high for what the Gallery's is planning for round two.

Jarrod Owen is an Australian based artist that has produced a number of character portraits for BattleTech in the past (see his likeness for Justin Allard here). These sketches are featured in several pre-Kickstarter Catalyst publications, and capture their subjects like few (if any) artists have before.

Browsing Jarrod's work on ArtStation awhile back, I found one piece that stood out for me. This illustration, titled Ulysses, is a commission Jarrod produced featuring a client's character. We've never seen a high quality piece like this focused on an elemental, and I felt the style shown in this illustration would service that subject well. The two settings that stand out to me would be a post-battle moment as the warrior is removing their battle armor, and another that captures the subject in the thick of a Braveheart like battle scene (full of chaos, destruction, and lethal intent).

I've exchanged some messages with Jarrod about the idea and he's interested, albeit engaged with full schedule currently. Fortunately the Gallery's support is focused on Bruins at the moment so timing is not critical. But if all goes well, Bruins' animation will draw more attention and funding to the Gallery and it's mission, and that support can be leveraged for the next piece.
