2020-10-30 04:38:32 +0000 UTCFYI, real time captioning is an access service for deaf and hard of hearing (DHH). It's as fast as court stenography, but designed to be easier to pick up. It uses a regular keyboard with various predictive text and shortcuts. Designed at RIT for our DHH students. Alas, I think it will overtake stenographers because it's easier to learn and doesn't require special equipment. Also, it makes me feel like a goddamn idiot because after each lecture I get to read *exactly* what I said.
