Julian wasn't a planned shoot or anyone I even knew prior to returning to Mexico. In fact, I was sitting outside at a cafe downstairs from my Airbnb, waiting for Erick (see previous posts). I was eager to see Erick again and to have another shoot with him, so I got to the cafe early to get a table so we could catch up before going upstairs to have him strip down for our latest shoot 📸😁
As I'm waiting, this guy appears and takes a seat nearby. Immediately I was taken with his look and though obviously clothed, I could tell he had a great physique. Though I wanted to approach him and introduce myself to then ask if he'd be interested in shooting - I didn't. I did this enough times early on in my photography career and more times than not was rejected, so I stopped. It always gave me great anxiety anyway, so - you win some, you lose some and I've come to live with the 'what if'.
So Erick arrives, we hug, chat, laugh and I mention to him this guy and he agrees he'd be a good subject. He suggests I go over to his table, I of course decline and that's that. We head upstairs and do our shoot.
Later that evening I'm browsing on Grindr and who do you think I see?
To waste no time, Julian and I have our shoot early the next morning. He's a twenty-something originally from Colombia, but had recently moved to Mexico City and was loving it. He's a dancer, but also an aspiring model - maybe he should give singing a try since he reminds me of Bruno Mars, right?
Hope you enjoy!
