Scrolling Timeline Animation [Download]

Hey Hey!

I am here with another Patreon download for you. This week on the channel, I break down how to create a Scrolling Timeline animation using Apple Motion.

Building this in Motion offers so much more flexibility, allowing you to change the year, colors, fonts, and of course animation speed. So I highly recommend that if you're interested in this effect, you build it alongside my tutorial here!

Unfortunately with this particular project, there are many many bugs in Motion that prevent me from creating an easy to use version directly for FCP.

But I didn't want to leave you all completely hanging, for those of you that don't use Motion regularly. So I created an entirely new version of this timeline animation for Final Cut Pro. While this title version does work quite well, it comes with some major limitations.

The largest limitations being you cannot change the font of the numbers (Outside of changing it 20 times inside of Motion), and it's faking amount of numbers on screen. But it's a great looking animation that you can easily plug into any video!

Here's a look at the final animation made for Final Cut Pro

I really wanted this title to be so much more, and I am hoping the bugs I faced can be addressed someday soon, so that I can make that happen. But hopefully until then, you will still find this download useful.

Thank you so much for your continued support on the channel! It really means so much to me that I get to do what I do, because of you.

Hi Dylan -- what's the easiest way of getting this to scroll BACKWARDS from, say, 2024 to 1983?

Phil

Thank you so much for sharing this scrolling timeline, works great!

You will find it inside of FCP under FCB's Patreon in your titles! You should find the settings in the inspector panel on the right. There you can change stuff like what numbers are shown, color, drop shadow and Motion Blur. Hope that helps!

Hey Jia! Someone else mentioned not seeing the download on an earlier post of mine. The fix happened to be quitting the page and coming back. Not sure what’s up with Patreon! But they aren’t getting too many points for being helpful 😬😬 I’d try using another browser and see if that makes it show up at the bottom of the post!

Hi Dylan, this is great! However I can't find the download link

Jia Sheng

Already can think of like 20 uses for this. Always providing the value my guy!
