BEDLAM, part 128.

Aside from a minuscule percentage of very commercially successful properties, fictional characters die with their creators. I collaborated with J. P. Morgan, Fission Chicken's creator, and was deeply saddened when he passed away - I was a big "Fish" fan, and thought it awful that there would be no more of his stories.

But that's how it goes - I'm too busy with my own characters to carry on with writing and drawing FC stories, much as I would like to keep the world of Fission Chicken alive. I imagine it will be much the same when I croak - Savage, the Mink, Herman, Happy Jack, Captain Iceland, Scotman and Icelad, all my merry crew will fade away when I exit the scene.

But just to give the Reaper the finger, here's ole Fish back from Limbo, as a part of this Mink tale. I wish I could do more, but that awaits time and resources it is unlikely I will ever have. But this much, I can do.

(sheds a tear) I got into furry stuff back in 98...we lost SO many artists since then.

Yeah, Fission Chicken was a special presence in the old Fantagraphics comic, Critters. When J. P. Morgan's artwork took time to adjust to, he had a terrific sense of humour about that surly and practical minded superhero who got into the strangest situations like dealing with the menace of the Votortoxians, an alien race of marketing experts who spoke in terms of advertising jingles and business catchphrases.
