Not being born with a Gate gives him not natural way of accessing real magical energy . . . the books just clued him in on how to draw on his body's limited reserves and possibly some of the local sources . . . but compared to an actual "born of the blood" magic user like the Mink . . . it's like putting a kid's toy bow and arrow against a fully armed tank!

2020-08-31 17:42:11 +0000 UTCI think this is more along the lines of internal battery vs plugged into a wall. Obviously, batterys only last so long before it runs out, but you can go as long and hard as you want when you plug directly into the source.

2020-08-31 17:40:53 +0000 UTCLet me theorize here for a bit, in the german rpg "The dark Eye" a mage has a certain ammount of Astral points which they need to cast Spells, if the Astral points are empty you have to wait for a while so they can regenerate, but with a gate i think, when the Mage casts a spell the astrall points that that spell use are instantly replenished.
