Walk & Talk, page 3.

It strikes me now that I started Herman's stories when I was in my teens. Now I'm in my fifties, he's still with me, insisting his tales be told. Say what you will about the rat in the trenchcoat, he's no passing fancy.

Same thing with Dave Sim and Cerebus the Aardvark. He realized when the well was dry and stopped working with the character. But anyone else interested, well, have a ball.

Robert E Howard was like this with Conan. All his other characters he had to work on the stories, but with Conan, they all came by themselves. He said it was as if he'd shown up and dictated his autobiography. Then one day the stories just stopped. Job done.

Strange bedfellows, indeed.

I'm pretty sure Herman Orca predates Art Spiegelman's Maus by decades.

Whoof! You have my apologies for everyone you've met here who's casually remarked how well-spoken you are. Also, I like the contrast you've made with their tones. Evocative of Maus. =)

Politician condescending to a member of a less privileged group? How unrealistic.
