"Samui, why'd we have to apologize to him?!" Karui's voice cracked with frustration as she glared at Samui, who'd followed them.
Even Omoi desperately pulling at her arm couldn't stop her outburst.
Oh God! Oh Earth!
Samui's going to kill me later!
Omoi's face was pure despair, on the verge of tears.
Samui glanced at Omoi cowering to the side, then turned her cold stare on Karui. "So what?"
"If you didn't apologize, what do you think you could've done?"
Sure, Killer Bee was only Samui's swordsmanship teacher, but that didn't mean she was blind to his strength. To put it bluntly, if their Fourth Raikage wasn't prepared, he might even lose to Killer Bee. After all, Killer Bee had the Eight-Tails and was known as the most perfect Jinchuriki.
What could Karui and Omoi do? These two rookies hadn't even reached genin level yet.
"I—" Karui was still unconvinced. This was their own village. Why should they fear people from Konoha?
Whoosh.
Samui's kunai flashed out, pressing instantly against Karui's forehead. Her eyes held icy indifference as she spoke in a flat tone.
"See? You can't defend against me at all. What else can you do? He's a jonin. A jonin I have no confidence facing."
Karui felt warm liquid flowing from her forehead and gritted her teeth. "Fine... I understand."
Samui spun gracefully, withdrawing her kunai, then turned and walked away. "From now on, you two follow Killer Bee-sensei back to the training ground. You're not allowed to come out."
"Understood, Samui!" Omoi, who'd been pretending everything was fine, responded loudly. His voice was almost hoarse from relief.
Sawada, resting in his lodgings, felt that gaze boring into his back and sighed helplessly.
He turned around with obvious exasperation. "Sensei, could you please go rest for a bit?"
Hiruzen's stare was really too strange. And it wasn't just him. Kakashi wore the same expression.
Only Shisui seemed unaffected, looking at Sawada expressionlessly, then at the Third Hokage with confusion.
"Hehe, Sawada, you're already eighteen, right?" Though Hiruzen was obviously asking a rhetorical question, he still smiled while asking.
"Yeah, eighteen. By normal standards, I'm considered long-lived now." Sawada rubbed his brow with obvious impatience.
Smack.
The next instant, Hiruzen's hand struck Sawada's forehead.
Ouch!
Sawada held his head, quickly recovering. Just because he could take the hit didn't mean it didn't hurt.
"Don't say things like that anymore!" Hiruzen said irritably, hands behind his back.
This is too difficult...
"Yes, yes..." Sawada could only respond helplessly. At least he'd diverted Hiruzen's attention from whatever he'd been thinking about.
Kakashi couldn't help but smirk. This was the first time he'd seen Sawada in such an awkward state.
"Bakayarō~"
In the training ground, Killer Bee was making strange gestures while talking to himself. He completely ignored the dozen or so people watching from nearby, lost in his own world.
Ever since his last "escape," after recovering enough to get out of bed, the Fourth Raikage had strictly ordered Killer Bee not to step foot outside the training ground. He'd specifically dispatched an elite squad of about ten people to watch him.
"Hey, Bee, can't you just rest properly?" The Eight-Tails' voice echoed helplessly inside Killer Bee's mind.
"Nah, I just had a new idea and need to remember it." Killer Bee pulled out a notebook, frowning slightly as he began to write.
The Eight-Tails sighed. He'd always been inside Killer Bee. How could he not understand his host's thoughts?
Don't let Killer Bee's carefree behavior fool anyone. His desire for victory was no less than anyone else's. Otherwise, he wouldn't have rushed over so recklessly upon seeing that Lightning Release technique.
"Sensei!"
Two figures entered the training ground. The squad leader guarding Killer Bee glanced once and paid them no more attention.
Killer Bee, who'd just finished writing, closed his notebook and looked over.
"Yo, Karui, Omoi. Where'd you two run off to so early?"
But his brow furrowed the next moment. "Where's your sword?"
As Killer Bee's sword disciples, the weapons carried by Karui and Omoi had all been selected by him personally. Now they weren't carrying them, which was strange.
Omoi's face filled with distress. His sword wasn't broken, but it was still in Sawada's hands.
"Sensei, I ran into that person! My sword was destroyed by him!" Karui said without hesitation, her expression very displeased.
Omoi tried to stop her, but it was already too late.
Killer Bee's expression became unreadable, not showing any particular reaction. After a long silence, he finally spoke. "That person, huh."
"Yeah, sensei! I wanted to help you get revenge, but that guy blocked my attack with one move." Karui nodded. She knew that although she hadn't reached genin level yet, she was much stronger than ordinary chunin.
Her teacher was the Eight-Tails Jinchuriki, who was also the Fourth Raikage's brother.
Killer Bee said nothing, just looked at Omoi. Compared to Karui's impulsiveness and lack of planning, Omoi was cautious and serious. He simply didn't believe these two disciples could directly attack Sawada without some kind of plan.
"Killer Bee-sensei, we ambushed him, but we didn't succeed." Omoi nodded, already thinking about consequences.
Before Killer Bee-sensei had arrived, he'd warned Karui not to say such things in front of their teacher, but she'd said it anyway.
Would Killer Bee-sensei rush out of the training ground now? If Samui found out, would he be beaten to death?
Thinking about this, Omoi felt his entire life had become dim, once again on the verge of tears.
"Understood. Go back to training. I'll just get you a new sword later." Killer Bee nodded expressionlessly.
Eh?!
Not only was Omoi, who'd looked completely despairing, stunned, but even Karui, who'd been fuming, couldn't help but freeze.
Why did Killer Bee-sensei seem... different?
After speaking, Killer Bee turned and walked toward the resting area nearby.
Only the Eight-Tails in his mind kept roaring: "Bee! Don't be impulsive!"
Hearing the Eight-Tails' words, Killer Bee chuckled. "Bakayarō~ I am Killer Bee!"
