I’m worried our Mike has been replaced with an evil Mike Robot... how else do you explain the lack of Strategema references in this episode!?

I was just sad that the 'explain the reference' cards weren't the same VHS spine ones sometimes used in BotW. Everything else was sheer joy.

The great part about act 3 of the first movie is that they suddenly switch time-travel tactics, to great success. It's enjoyable to watch those characters figure out something moderately clever - they're so happy about it!

For some reason, I read the novelization of Bill & Ted 2 over and over as a little kid. I was obsessed with it, I loved it. And it contained all the cut stuff you talked about, like their final confrontation with their Hell fears. When I finally saw the film I was so confused and salty because it was missing all that shit! So yeah, if you want the best version of Bill & Ted 2, track down the thirty year old novelization and read that.

Diane Franklin, one of the princesses, was in two of my favorite movies: Terrorvision and Better Off Dead. It's always fun to see her, even in an underwritten role.

I’m glad they edited it down to under an hour instead of splitting into two episodes. This was the perfect length and both movies were discussed well enough. I’m looking forward to their review of Face the Music.

This was 55 minutes and 51 seconds of joy, thank you. Also, growing up, I thought Death was sooo tall. Seeing William Sadler in other movies as an adult was a real surprise.

I was kind of hoping they'd continue this joke with the third, but I have a feeling they'll be actual characters, as they cast two comic actresses in the roles.

What an egregious example of "A Case of the Not Gays" in the Bill & Ted movies, I have a lot of respect for Mike for pointing it out even though he likes the movies. I know they are basically 1980s movies from a much different time and I usually cut them slack but this was a no effort case. The Princesses did nothing.
2020-08-26 22:27:33 +0000 UTC
Thanks for all the explained references, guys. I dropped out of school in 1st grade and I'm functionally and culturally illiterate.
I've never actually seen the Bill and Ted movies but I'll have to rectify that because they look fucking delightful.
Mike, I hope you're growing out your beard again.

Was there a cricket in the studio or am I having a stroke?
EDIT: my bad, didn't realize it was in the YouTube description. So now, on top of watching your videos, I have to READ too? Ugh.

One of the most amusing recurring things on RLM is them talking about 20-30 year old movies and having to explain every reference in it while getting self conscious about assuming a baseline level of intelligence from their audience.

I find the first more memorable than I ever would cause my class put on a play in History class based on Bill and Ted and we had to research and play historical figures. Bogus Journey is fun though.

The Grim Reaper is played by William Sadler who is also known for playing Sloan, the head of Section 31 in DS9. You're slippin' on your Trek references Stoklasa

Mike self-installation of this obsession with the Not Gays is entirely down to his fear of being upstaged by his delightful wife.

Hmm, I want to say I got most of my knowledge of Ingmar Bergman's "The Seventh Seal" for the first 35 years of my life from "Bogus Journey" (and a little bit from the end of "Last Action Hero")... you know, that heavy, deep Swedish movie where Death plays chess, the only thing anybody knows about it...
I finally watched "The Seventh Seal" a couple of years ago... and I have to say, THAT itself is actually a pretty funny movie...! Wouldn't have thought from all the parodies, but it's almost a comedy... :D
Sorry, that's most of what I can add to a discussion about "Bill & Ted"... those movies are alright. Not great, but fine. Kinda looking forward to "Face the Music", though... :P

I'm so excited! I love these movies and I know Jay does too.
Face the Music has been pretty much the only show or movie I've been pumped for in advance for years, and reading today that it leans completely away from cynicism and instead completely into the optimism these two dudes and their daughters embody fills me with much anticipation!
Hoping for the Half in the Bag sometime after Friday; just excited I don't have to go to the theater to watch the new movie!
