Gremlins 2: The New Batch - re:View

Gremlins 2: The New Batch - re:View

So many iconic actors in this totally forgot Gary Watanabe in it. He’s also in Mulan, Gung Ho, Volunteers and ER.

Kim Luu

Well damn, I always watch these at bedtime. :\

Marissa Adams

I was just about to buy several copies of Gremlins 2 as presents, based on this review.

Chaotic Neutral

Should have watched it earlier, but I was working! I often wonder what poor studio intern is assigned to blocking management on youtube. Ultimately they will end up having to talk to a pissed off marketing person who doesn't understand YouTube and eventually it will hopefully get resolved. Having worked for other large studios I can tell you they have no idea how to manage their relationship between their property and video reviewers.

Jessie Leigh

Free advertising for your old movie franchise? Great job shutting that down WB, really smart. Ugh. I wonder it it was a bot or if they were dumb enough to manually claim it.

Bright Anderson

I was actually thinking about renting Gremlins 2 after watching this, but not anymore WB!

Dylan Avery

This is pretty fucked up right here. Warner Bros should be showering channels like RLM with gratitude for encouraging their fans to watch or rewatch their back catalogue while continuing to expose their competition (Disney, Sony). Someone get Bugs Bunny on the line!

Jeremy Heynen

WB just couldn't stomach Mike and Jay unintentionally defacing priceless movie props.

Also, Jay saying "just sayin" .... insert infamous prerec stream here, you know the one Jay. just sayin ;-)

Aaron Cabe

well at least I finished the episode before I saw it got taken down, what a bunch of shit Warner Bros

Aaron Cabe

Guess they hate free advertising and promotion!

Nathan Joiner

Blocked by Warner Brothers? I was half way through watching it! Noooooo!

Michael Hellyer

I managed to finish it, and noticed it wasn't loading comments. Refreshed and suddenly it was gone :( How often does this happen for the Re:Views? Is this fairly common? Is it easy to get it reversed? I looked like this one had >100k views already, it'd suck to have that disappear.

Brian Cable

I was half way through it!

Nathan Joiner

Warner bros blocked this video on YouTube! 😑

Nathan Joiner

Speaking of puppetry! Now would be a good time for a Dark Crystal re:view wouldn’t it? Movie and series.

Ruperthrax

President Clamp tweeting about the Gremlin epidemic in Gremlins 3 would be a lot of fun. Thoughts and prayers. Sad!

Dark Crystal is the exception, not the rule, when it comes to modern filmmaking.

Red Letter Media

I don't think part 1 is "superior"... for me, they're equally great...

Manuel Johnen

I wonder if they filmed this before Dark Crystal hit Netflix. Because they seem so certain that a Gremlins movie now would be all terrible CGI and lose the charm of the puppetry. Well Dark Crystal should put those fears to bed a bit. Studios and distributors will still invest heavily in a puppeteered project. And I think they found a good balance, with like 95% puppets and about 5% CGI shots for flying etc. So I don't think they need to give up the dream yet!

I was born after the original Gremlins so I distinctly remember loving Gremlins 2. I had it on Betamax and would watch it about as often as I watched Ghostbusters 2. It actually took me a long time to get around to watching the original Gremlins and I do recognise it as the superior film, but I actually like Gremlins 2 more now for its sheer creativity and risk taking. In this day of safe remakes and sequels it feels especially fresh.

Daniel

This was the first movie I ever bought on VHS back in the day. The in-movie joke where the film burns was different on tape than in the cinema... I really thought my VCR was about to eat the tape in that moment... :D

Manuel Johnen

That'll be interesting to watch, since I know the commentary track for Gremlins and then about a month ago watched Gremlins for the first time in my life. I also watched Ghostbusters, the original one, some weeks ago, and I have to say that 30 years later Ghostbusters is still awesome, and I really got the good vibe from anything RLM related with Ghostbusters.

Marvin Falz

Thats so cool!

Michael Matzat

I just recently finished watching "The Dark Crystal: Age of resistance" on Netflix and they have this great making of documentary on the Show were they also reveal plans to make it a animated show or a partly animated show. The tests they show are not even bad CG, and its a mix of puppets and cg characters and they state themselves "you just want to see the puppets", how it just looks different if its a real thing getting hit by real light. Its amazing, if you don't care about the show at least wach the making of special. The craftsmanship on that project is crazy. Pure CG Gremlins just would not work.

Michael Matzat

When I was 13 I sent a letter to WB explaining how much I loved Gremlins 2. They forwarded that letter to Joe Dante, who proceeded to send me a giant box of Gremlins scripts, storyboards, props and autographs. One of the nicest, most lovely gestures ever. Great man. Great films. Huge inspiration.

James Farr

Knowing that this video is out will get me through the workday.

Sarzac

Still haven't seen Gremlins 2. Guess I need to do that now. Saw the first one for the first time last Christmas after a friend was horrified to hear that I'd never seen it.

Speaking of the dog in Gremlins, did you know that the same dog was in Pumpkinhead? Me and my girlfriend watched both coincidently this weekend and I noticed it. His name is Mushroom which is adorable.
