Star Trek 6

Hello. I've always known/noticed that they used a lot of redressed TNG sets in Star Trek 6: The Undiscovered Country, but until Blu Ray I never noticed that the UFP president's office is fucking Ten Forward with some drapes. I'm so ashamed of myself for not noticing and them for being so lazy. Great movie though.

They've got an 800 year old piano, but the Federation can't spring for CHAIRS THAT FUCKING SWIVEL?!

Isolated Thunderstorms

And I still would never have noticed if you hadn't posted this. Amazing.

Paul H

I'm being completely sincere when I say that this is the kinda content I made a patreon for.

Will Toledo

I always thought it was odd that they designed the Earth president to look so much like a Klingon in a movie where the politics of that are pretty integral to the plot

Matt P

"But was it as lazy as putting a weird mustache on Red Forman" You mean putting a weird mustache on Clarence Boddecker. Not to mention giving Odo/the Priest from "The Big Big Bus" a role vaguely based on Oliver North (Colonel West, get it?)

Diego Corazón

Oh heavenly father! So it is! The veil has been lifted!!! Don't be ashamed Mike or Rich!

Bahareh

Larry "Tree" Loniak would have noticed immediately if he wasn't dead. Jeez, Mike.

Sarzac

But was it as lazy as putting a weird mustache on Red Forman and calling him the President? (Actually, that doesn't seem like such a bad idea now)

Dachannien

That's right... wait. You're not Susan

NonsenseInABag

Maybe he wanted to sit on his way home

John Boltons Mustache

I wasnt ready to hear this, the magic of moviemaking is gone now

David Davidson

I would suggest therapy.

Well, I call myself a Star Trek fan and haven't even seen all of the movies with the original cast and only a couple of seasons of TNG, Voyager, no Deep Space Nine (except the Tribbles episode), no Enterprise and who cares for the animated series anyway.

Marvin Falz

Yep just add some different stickers to the little round windows of the ten forward entry doors and you’re all set too. Great movie. HITB Commentary!

Andrew F.

Commentary track on Star Trek 6 please! As yourselves, not the Plinkett character :)

Mark H

in the dozens of time I've seen this movie I had never caught this, then my wife who is a big TNG fan but had never seen ST6 caught it immediately on her first viewing about a year ago - once you see it, you can't unsee it

Matt P

This is the dumb stuff that I want more of from this dumb patreon. I love you,

~Benjo~

So often these days set decoration/design only goes as far as the sacks of money they have to throw the computer effects team. I actually kind of admire the little nuances they put into re-dressing the set.

Ken

please post more cool tidbits like this! i like hearing about this stuff. ♪( ´▽`)

Shappo

These sorts of updates are so great, no joke. Sometimes you gotta exorcize those "Little Things I Never Noticed In Movies"

Sarah Low

It's ok! Just get it all out Mike!

Sarah Low

It is. Fore sure.

Komrad Jay

You didn’t notice it, but your brain did...

Ramon Ayon

lazy or not, it's still the last great Trek film

Nick

Oh wow, you’re right. The curved windows behind the drapes

BlueGlurp

Not sure I'd call it lazy. Undiscovered Country had a VERY constrained budget after Final Frontier. They probably had to pinch their pennies wherever they could.

CHK_anon

I noticed this the first time I saw it. For shame, Mike (or Rich). Or both. Both for sure.

Komrad Jay

Great: Although I’m not sure I see it.

Bill Scurry

I've wondered why this scene always makes me thirsty for a good prune juice.

Kevin Allard

good point Jay

James Halloran

Well, at least we know for certain Jay didn't write this.

casey

Now, go back and watch that scene and notice how not only does Sarek disappear, but he takes his chair with him.

Shawn O'Halloran

Yeppers. The doors give it away.
