Great episode!

I'd forgotten about Blade and how much it influenced things like Matrix. Thanks for giving your take on it.

Laura Carr

Also, their review of id4 should have been a heads up that these will not solely be fan boy Re:Views.

Hahahahaha I'm just guessing that you've never seen Citizen Kane. It actually holds up surprisingly well. And if you have, Wether you like it or not, you cannot deny how beautifully adept and groundbreaking the cinematography is. The message of CK is incredibly still relevant. I believe it actually seems more revolutionary when it's compared with the cgi laden movies of today. Storytelling was not dropped in order to make room for shock and awe. It worked in conjunction. Blade might be fun, but it's not a good movie. Maybe, enjoyable. But, not good. I think the show ReView is about taking an older movie and giving it another watch. Then reviewing it. Giving their honest opinion on the merits of the film. Even if it has none.

This episode of re:View was too much like the other shows. Wasn't re:View about giving older movies a fair shake, preferably those that were liked by at least one of the reviewers? Blade is a good movie. All movies age. Citizen Kane does not look nearly as revolutionary if you put it next to movies of today. I can't quite judge you on that, but simply because yourkeep changing the perspectives of the review so much that I do not even know where you are coming from. This is a bad episode of an otherwise good show.

I loved that movie too! Holy crap, that was 1994!

So i was just rewatching the Kill Bill movies and wanted to check red letter media for the original reviews to learn that there are non. Would be all kinds of cool if you guys could do a re:view on these movies even if there is no current release context to review it in.

Michael Matzat

The Masquerade! I played that once like 15 years ago.

Mike Trevino

I love me some Blade. It might be one of my favorite 90s films. Yes, the CG is really bad (I recall being taken out of the movie by it when it was released) but honestly, I think Blade 2 has aged worse. The all-CGI fight scenes are just awful and the romantic subplot is really lame and unjustified. Blade Trinity was worse, but would have been less worse without Dominic Purcell.

Mike Trevino

Goyer also ripped off a lot of his worldbuilding from that old White Wolf paper and pen role playing game. Vampire the something, something. The Embrace? Pretty much a direct lift, don't know if he mentioned it in the commentary or not.

Thank god this isn't 1½+ hour long

Anders

The Crow w Brandon Lee in my opinion is the most important comic book movie ever made. If u haven't watched it ur missing out. The soundtrack was amazing too. I never hear anything about it anymore. Oliver Harper did a retrospective on it.
