Sam and Fuzzy Extra - October 2024

It's S&F Extra time! This month, I'm focusing heavily on my October tradition of doing a bunch of "dress-up" pieces and other black-and-white inked art, although I have some other odds and ends to share, too. Let's dig in!

Backer-Suggested Costumes
So far, I've done a trio of pieces based on costume suggestions from my Patreon backers! I'm going to be doing more, so if you'd like to suggest a (sfw) idea, too, just do it in the comments below.

Anyhow, here are the three I've done so far:

Baker as the Tom Baker Doctor from Doctor Who
This was such a cute suggestion! I tried to make that scarf as huge as possible.

Sam and Fuzzy as Banjo and Kazooie
I've drawn Fuzzy as Banjo in the past, but this is definitely Sam's first time in the role. (He doesn't look super thrilled about it, though.)

Fuzzy and Bonus as Batman and Darkwing Duck
You may have seen this piece already on my site! I was doing a series of bat-themed pieces for a "Batober" week, so this suggestion seemed like a good one to use. The original suggestion was to have them arguing about who was the better detective, but because of the theme, I wound up having them argue about who does and doesn't count as a bat.

Batober and Wolftober
Meanwhile, I've been drawing a bunch of inked art that isn't dress-up themed, too! You may have seen these elsewhere, but here they are in full-sized form for posterity.

First off, I did a week of Bat-themed pieces for "Batober":

Conscience Bat
This piece revisits Batmothy... Cynthia's former censor bat, who got a job working for Conscience Cat at the end of the Bats On, Bats Off storyline. I guess he is angling for a raise.

 LEGO Absolute Batman
This guy is my LEGO-style parody of the new version of Batman appearing in the Absolute Batman comic series. The new guy is built like a brick, and has a big rectangular bat symbol... so I thought it would translate hilariously into LEGO form.

Swoobat, Zubat and Noibat
This trio of bat type characters are all from Pokemon. (There are a lot of pokebats!)

Batty
Not sure how many people in the audience are old enough to remember this film, but this guy is from the 90s animated film FernGully, and was voiced by Robin Williams.

Doom Wing Shadow and Bat Brain
Shadow the Hedgehog gets big goopy alien batwings in his upcoming game, so he gets to participate in this category! So does Bat Brain, even though the little animal inside his robot shell is probably a squirrel.

And now that Batober is over, I have moved on to Wolftober! Here are my first three pieces:

Amaterasu
This good girl is the main character from the beloved video game Okami.  I suspected I would really enjoy drawing this character, and I was right! Plus, it was a fun opportunity to bust out the red marker for the accents!

Fang and Whipser
Another pair of Sonic characters! I thought this would be a fun one because people might not realize these characters are wolves... especially Fang, who was erroneously labelled as a weasel here in North America for a couple of decades. He is, in fact, half wolf and half jerboa. (Don't ask me how that works.) Whisper is a character from the recent comic series!

 Death
And finally, we have Death from the recent Puss in Boots movie! This character was so visually striking in the film... and he provided another opportunity to use the red marker. Haha!

That's everyone I've drawn so far, but I'll be doing some more wolf characters later this week, so feel free to suggest any that you might like to see!

This is a real pinball machine! I did my best to draw it accurately. (Of course, in real life it would be much too big for the dog to play. Creative license!
