It's S&F Extra time! Which means I'm here once more with a behind-the-scenes look at what I've been up to lately.
And what I have been up to is drawing a lot of friggin' dogs! Prepare for an especially canine-focused S&F Extra. (With one very non canine-related pin-up at the end.)
Fetch Quest
In the gallery above, you'll find a timelapse GIF showing the making of this piece. The concept for this one seemed so clear in my head, but it took a while for me to figure out exactly how I wanted to stack all those defeated foes. (And who they would all be!)
Texts from Bunsen, Vol 3
Bunsen the science dog is coming out with another book soon, and I was once again recruited to do the cover! Here's a look at my initial sketch for the piece, followed by the finished cover art:

This time, we went for a chill summer vibe. There's a new beaver character in this one, so they asked if I could set the piece at a dam. I did not realize what I was getting into drawing all those individual sticks, haha!
Fireside
I drew this piece as a little epilogue to the comic about Dipper finding his bone treasure. Just in case you wondered what he was going to do with it!

I actually drew this while I was actually sitting in front of a campfire... how's that for authentic?
With Fetch Quest in general, and with this piece in particular, I ahve been really looking to mesh the black-heavy inked style of Sam and Fuzzy with the sketchy colourful art style I've been using for the Poppy and Dipper comics. I quite like how this one turned out!
Pet Portraits
Whew! Over the last month, I have been drawing pet portraits like crazy. The summer conventions are always my busiest time of the year for these, and I am still working my way through them all. Here are some highlights!
A corgi with a fairy:
A trio of shibas as Delicious in Dungeon characters:
A pair of golden retrievers as Link and a korok:
A dog as Lucinia from Fire Emblem:

A corgi as Sylvie from Loki:
A dog as the Winter Soldier:
A corgi dressed as both Deadpool AND Wolverine:
A pair of dogs dressed as Loki and Princess Leia:
And a pair of dogs dressed as Rogue and Storm from the X-men:

That's a lotta costumed critters!
Princess Endura
And finally, for something pretty different, here's a pin-up of Alicia as Princess Endura, the main character of Neutral Chaos Archipelago:
This piece is meant to be a royal portrait that sits behind her throne. This is the "sfw" version, although it's still pretty over the top. Princess Endura is a pretty vain, almost Emperor's New Groove-esque spoiled monarch, so I wanted this to really capture the romanticized way she views herself... 50% greek god, 50% Maxim spread.
Thanks, everyone! 'til next time.
