The Challenger Disaster

I'm brand new to CN, and have been listening to Scathing for about a year. I was in 6th grade and remember it well. That y-shaped smoke plume as the first media image I saw displayed over and over, and the first that remains instantly recognizable decades later. I'm not sure how I feel about this episode. Most things can be made funny, even horrible things. I did laugh a little at some of the jokes while simultaneously being horrified. Not one I'd listen to again. I couldn't help but think of friends and family members of the astronauts who might have been hurt by the jokes.

I'm embarrassed to say that I had difficulty listening to this one. I subscribe to all of your various podcasts and have laughed and groaned-laughed at a bunch of the stuff you guys say. But somehow Challenger was a bridge too far for me? Maybe its just that it happened within my living memory as opposed to most of the other batshit crazy stuff that has been covered on CN thus far. Anyhow, I thought you did a good job at finding the the dark humor by focusing on the criminal negligence that killed the 7 astronauts.
