Oliver & Company was one of my fav movies as a childhood and I was overwhelmed with emotion watching the film with you from nostalgia. My favourite character is Dodger (who is ironically a cool cat) and my favourite song is Why Should I Care (which always gives me goosebumps) - happy that that song was what they chose to reprise for the ending.

Ah yes, Oliver & Company, inspired from Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. Interestingly, this 1988 movie came out the exact same weekend as another animated feature film, Universal's The Land Before Time. Both movies were box offices successes, but The Land Before Time grossed more money (probably because a movie with dinosaurs is more appealing than a movie with cats and dogs). At the same time, many will say that The Land Before Time (despite technically being a Universal film) felt more like a Disney movie than Oliver & Company did.

Billy Joel played dodger. Billy Joel was a 70s/80s rock and roll star. My family always were big Billy Joel fans. So I got excited when I saw that you were going to watch this movie.

Howard Ashman helped write Once Upon A Time In New York City and a lot of the lyrics make sense knowing he just came from working on a musical called Smile that flopped hard on broadway and he would die from AIDS several years later. It’s an interesting look back.

Once upon a time in New York City performance by Huey Lewis.
