Reporter for Worm News

One of the really great things about having the worms around is that it's like a built in science unit for Elliot. He's having a lot of fun tracking how fast they are growing, measuring them and keeping track of how many days old they are.  Here he gives you the latest update.  (At the 35 second mark he apologises - he has new pants with big pockets and is helpless not to play with the velcro.)

Elliot, while noting that the worms are 11 days old and 1.5cm (big, huh?) and that they also have a lot of poop-  introduces you to the newborn worms that have just hatched.  I wasn't going to do another batch so soon, but when the worms lay still for 24 hours before their first moult, I panicked and thought they were dying and took more eggs out of the fridge. They started moving around and eating again almost immediately, but it was too late, the eggs had been out of the fridge too long.

They hatched yesterday (and some today) and Elliot and I were up early enough in the morning to watch some of the wriggle out of their shells, which was very cool indeed.

Welcome to the world, backup-bugs.

See you soon,

Stephanie

Anyone else have trouble with this video? It keeps freezing for me. I thought it might be my internet but I've tried in two different days now and I just watched the newer video without issue.

You did an excellent job of explaining to us about worms, Elliot!
