2025-03-15 16:40:50 +0000 UTCIn fact, to ANY AMERICANS reading this (or those knowledgeable about US health care) I've ALWAYS wondered how much my body genuinely IS worth? I mean, my main procedure I was in hospital just 2 weeks, BUT, that involved 12hrs of extremely complex spine surgery (so essentially took up the WHOLE specialist hospitals surgical team a whole day) followed by 48hrs in intensive care, then 3 days in a private room (coz I was hooked up to THAT MANY machines, including very strong IV painkillers) then spent the rest of my time in a standard ward where I got intensive physio, regular scans (CT, MRI, multiple Xray) and they switched Me to several oral medications; and that's NOT even Including all outpatient care when I got home, like getting my 20inch long (had to be special ordered) bandages changed regularly, the daily call out physio, and the equipment I needed (from wheelchairs/grabby stick to things that helped me get on and off the toilet/bath/bed/sofa) PS When we enquired about the cost of going private (in the UK) we were quote £25k ($31.5k) just for the surgery, so in the US that'd be like, what? $250k? (The REAL QUESTION being...am I a million dollar women? :P)
