hey everyone!
i'm super stoked for this wrap up, but more than that, i'm stoked to have you here! thank you so much for choosing to pledge and sticking around, it means a lot to me and i am very grateful for every single one of you 💕
i'll separate this wrap up into three sections: resources (like websites, software, textures etc.), tips and advice threads, and a pack of my hd paintintgs. let me know what you think, and which section you'd like me to delve into more. i'm mostly sharing things important to me, but ultimately this is also for you guys, so don't hesitate to share your thoughts!
RESOURCES:
- sketchfab.com - a site where people post their 3d models, and i've been using for almost a year now - it cuts my reference-searching-time in half. you can view models in any angle you need, with many other options to help you understand the model. if you need architecture pieces, items, character models, or real people scans in various poses - do give it a shot!
- roomsketcher.com - backgrounds! this is an online program to design a home/room. you draw a floor plan, furnish and decorate it, and then have it turned into a 3d model. this can help immensely if you need to include an elaborate background on more than one art piece. for example! if you make comics, instead of trying to nail the character's bedroom all the time you just design it and have a resource for every panel the bedroom is in. so overall very useful! easy to use, free, and you can come back to your projects, they don't disappear.
- DesignDoll - a software with pose-able human 3d models for easy reference/base. i have not tried it myself, but it's a resource i've heard people praising left and right. so while i can't say much about it, i figured maybe any of you will wanna look into it more! in that case, refer to the tumblr post here!
- hd textures and photos - both websites, both free stuff. tons of textures i use, and photos, AKA reference/base gallery.
- humanae - not very active lately, but still informative. this blog is basically a database with portraits of people with various skin tones - great stuff for finding portraits for study/practice - especially colour-wise!
- vogue's archive - free database of fashion pieces; browse by season, designer and show! does wonders to help build your costume/fashion mental library!
ADVICE! a wee compilation of threads i either agree with or that have helped me art-wise (a little bit barren this month).
- panel with shoomlah about portfolios and getting art job in a game industry
- pricing commission thread
- composition tutorial by genicecream
- apart from the one tutorial above (which i adore) i wanna avoid posting a whole lot of tutorials from tumblr/twitter. there's plenty masterpost and blogs that do a better job at it
that covers it!
i did not want to overdo it for the first time, but still, i am a wee bit worried the amount of info feels underwhelming. so, again, please feel free to let me know how i can tailor these wrap ups to your guys' interests!
toodles! 💕
