Unless it's too late.

Save me Thistle, I'm becoming a mean pony again. The demon in Lullaby's dream. Don't let me fall to where it's too late.

I keep thinking about what you confirmed. That Rusty was, in fact, acting in his twisted beliefs of right and wrong. That he too, was doing what made sense to him. He's not just a villain. He's another pony. Wrong, but not in absolute. And even he, cold and calculating as he may be, can succumb to panic. He thought he was going to die. He values his life. And like anyone else, he can succumb to panic. And now here Tempest is, about to burn him to the ground. (metaphorically, I think...) Should he survive, what will come about? Where there be any justice for Rusty? Tempest is very much crossing the line. Thistle betrayed him. Her own family. What will come about, when Tempest learns they had been working together? That the plan, had been shared between them. That in fact, Lullaby was never his true target. It was always her. Rusty was out to deliver the punishment that Tempest herself believes she deserves. Thistle was in league with him. And now things have turned. Will anyone escape unbroken? All 3 have committed heinous crimes. All 3 are wrapped up in a web of inevitable sorrow. What will come about? I wonder...

I can't make out what she is doing. I do not understand what I'm seeing in that regard. But I do know the flash of evil when I see it. Tempest is wearing it. The Maniacal loss of perspective. Rusty is a cold, calculating sociopath. But Tempest is worse than him right now. She is delighting in the suffering she is causing. This isn't cold, this is the fiery-hot flash of righteous vengeance! Rusty has given her what she really wanted: A reason to fight. The call to conquer. Is she crushing him?
