So, as far as content goes, it's probably less than exciting but it's important that I share where my time is going.
The backgrounds have all taken me a incredible amount of time with me spending more time on them than any singular picture in my life, lol. The main file is a small crop of a wilderness bg I've been working on, coloring, animating for the game. I've spent about 60 true hours on it alone and it's nearing completion finally.
It's getting very close to a public showing as the art assets finally near completion. The game itself is running pretty smoothly and in a place I'm pretty damned happy with, gameplay wise and I can't wait to show more. We currently got a system in place to crudely select magic spells and a pretty hefty system in place for selecting what I'll call "power moves", Those range from her foot turning into a mace to her slashing with a sword at incredible speed like the above animation.
If you're curious as to what kind of game it is I can at least be more clear about that. It'll be an arena based action rpg. When I say arena, think of a fighting game arena. The actual combat is something in between a deep beat em/fighting game/classic rpg. Unlike most beat em ups, it takes place on singular plane and is focused on x positioning, blocking, parrying, crowd controlling and dodging as opposed to using the y axis to move up or down out of range. The reason for the arena is a want to focus on combat, looting, leveling, (other activities that may or may not involve a fishing lol) and all the stuff I mostly enjoy in games. As much as I love exploration in games it usually gets boring after the x time playing and I just want to get down to the combat. Thinking of games like Dragon's crown, devil may cry or Sifu(which I love). But after a while, I got bored of just walking through the levels getting to the fights. You can only explore a place a few times before it becomes a bit monotonous. This is a problem even with randomized dungeons in rogue lites (for me). As far as how the game may feel outside of combat, you have a general hub for talking to npcs, getting general story and upgrading. You'll also be accepting quests, trading in loot from mobs for coin and in general, helping those who reside within the hypogeum and whom are there to fight the abomination hoard. The mission structure is similar to that of monster hunter in which you choose a quest and have a select objective in which you then go to the arena and complete said objective, or fail and return with no rewards.
anyyyways, I'll be finishing up some stuff with it soon then racking my brain trying to make a trailer. But I'll probably start releasing some gifs once I come up with the actual name of the project, lol. ;o
