Scáthach just sighed at the question: "I don't believe it, Sétanta, I know that."
The man just stared at her with a sad expression: "I see, be careful then, Scáthach. I hope that one day you will receive your wish."
'These two, so alike in so many ways' she thought with a sad smile, as once again the past began to repeat itself in front of her.
"I don't believe it Ren, I know," she said with a sigh, waiting for the predictable response.
"So you're an idiot," Rem replied with certainty, causing Scathach's eyes to widen in shock as she turned to face him.
Seeing this, the teenager continued, "Tell me Scáthach, have you been to school before? Have you been out of the Otherworld in centuries? Do you know with 100% certainty that everything will repeat itself in exactly the same way?"
The immortal witch was silent as she just stared at him in utter shock, making Ren gasp as she stared up at the starry night sky with an amused smile on her face. "Tell me Scáthach, when you think of alternate realities than what do you think?"
Coming out of her shock, the witch frowned as she joined him to stargaze, both looking up at the sky as Scáthach replied, "A world that is exactly the same"
Ren just nodded, "And you'd be right for the most part. Most worlds are the same, except for a single difference, a single person's life changes slightly and suddenly it's a new world, even if only a few are affected"
The teenager then turned as a shooting star flew across the sky, bringing a smile to his face as he gestured for Scáthach to do the same. Frowning, the witch turned and looked at him confused as the teenager continued his speech.
"However, sometimes this small change is just the sign of something much bigger, the calm before the storm, this insignificant difference changes everything around you all of a sudden. These small differences end up adding up to create something totally different from what you used to. know," he replied with a smirk.
Scáthach turned to face him with a confused look on his face: "Ren, why are you telling me this?"
The teenager just turned to her and placed a comforting hand on the witch's shoulder: "Scáthach, although the past can repeat itself, there are always small changes in them, you just have to be willing to look for them. it's the same, but since everything is different, you get to watch people over time, why waste it?"
The witch was silent before a soft laugh escaped her lips as she smiled at him: "You are really wise for someone your age"
"I try," Ren said smiling slightly.
The pair then fell into a comfortable silence as they turned to the sky, each deep in thought. Eventually, the silence was broken when Scáthach felt Ren's hand leave her shoulder, causing the witch to turn to see him give her a determined look.
"Scáthach, I promise you that I will make your life meaningful again, I will make you see that you must never give up on Life like this," he promised without a hint of uncertainty in his voice.
"Ren, why do you worry so much about this? The choice is mine after all" Scáthach frowned in confusion.
"Because Scáthach, I care about you. You are an important person to me and as your master it is my duty…" said Ren, not noticing the witch's eyes widen slightly.
"Furthermore?" asked the witch, bringing an embarrassed smile to Ren's face.
"Besides that a pretty girl like you shouldn't have such a sad expression on her face, she's much better off with a happy smile," replied the teenager as Scáthach quickly looked away, hiding her face from view.
"Don't ask for the impossible Ren...but thank you," murmured the witch as a real smile spread across her face, a slight blush forming on her cheeks.
Ren, even listening, said nothing as he enjoyed the moment.
"I think we better go soon, we don't want them to starve, right?" said Ren with a laugh that was returned by Scathach.
"Yes," said the Immortal Witch with a smile as she followed Ren.
"Small difference huh?" thought Scathach with a thoughtful expression on his face.
...
...
"So this is master?" asked Scathach as he looked straight ahead.
Currently both were in a large forest away from the city of Kuoh and in front of a church that looked abandoned.
Scathach still didn't know what they were both doing here, she had just followed Ren towards her goal.
And they ended up in an abandoned Church, obviously Scathach realized it was much more than that as the entire Church was surrounded by a barrier that would warn if anyone entered.
Scathach had used a series of Celtic runes to break the barrier without anyone noticing.
In addition, she felt many presences within the Church, several were human but four stood out that were her supernatural.
Fallen Angels according to Ren had the explanation.
Scathach couldn't help but feel let down by the power of such a being, it was really pathetic in her opinion, but Ren had explained that these Fallen Angels were low-level and that there were several that were much stronger.
"Yes," Ren said calmly as he walked some more.
Scathach can't help but be surprised, the Fallen Angels that were inside were not a danger to their master even in a thousand years, if Ren wanted he would just ask Okita that the servant would kill them all without question.
Seeing her master a question came to the Immortal Witch's mind, one she had been curious about since she met her master.
"Master, may I ask a question?"
Ren looked at her, "Master? No more Ren? You can call me that if you want, and be my guest," SlashDog said calmly.
"Very well Ren" said Scathach smiling slightly: "I noticed that you are always expending a great deal of magical energy, and it is not for us servants, so I wanted to know what it is."
Scathach knew that her master had overwhelming magical power, even by the standards of a servant, and she honestly doubted that even if all the servants came together they would have such great power.
That's why Ren had no problem keeping them all, and even more his magic power regenerates to an absurd level.
But what most caught Scathach's attention was that she realized one thing: Ren's magical power was being continuously drained, and it wasn't by his servants as the amount was greater than necessary to keep them.
Of course, this wasn't a problem for Ren, as his magic power instantly regenerates.
But even so Scathach was curious to know where Ren was expending this large amount of energy.
"Oh, that was about it. The answer is simple" said Ren calmly before looking at Scathach: "I always have one of my Balance Breakers activated" said Ren as he walked back to walking and left Scathach to his own thoughts.
