"I see, that explains a lot of things," said Jalter, looking up at the starry sky: "Will you carry on with your revenge even if innocent people die?"
Ren looked up at the sky as he thought of Jalter's words.
"I'm not going to attack these people, but they'll always have the wrong time and place," Ren said as he thought.
"This world has no meaning to me, there is nothing that binds me to it, nothing that I value and love, and only a rotten world in my eyes," said Ren calmly.
"I see, so what I have left is to support you until the end master" said Jalter making Ren look curious.
"Serious?"
"I'm someone who's been through this so I know how it feels, so I'll support you and be here when you need it," said Jalter with a rare smile.
Ren smiled as he put a thoughtful look on his face.
"What there was?" asked Jalter curiously.
"I think you need a name," Ren said making the servant stare blankly.
"A name?" Jalter asked not understanding.
"Yes, although you are an evil version of the Maiden of Orleans, you are also a person, and 'Jalter' only seems to say that you are the opposite of the original. That's why you need a name for yourself," Ren said calmly.
Jalter blinked in surprise at this, there were very few people who spoke to her like that, and she really liked what her master proposed.
A name for her, and her alone, to show that she was not an evil aspect of Joan of Arc, but a person herself.
"How about Joan?" Ren offered with a smile.
"Joan…" Jalter muttered as a smile formed on his face.
Joan, her own name to identify her with a person of her own, not just an alter version of the Maiden of Orleans.
"Very well master, I accept the name, from now on my name is Joan" said the servant Avenger calmly.
"Very well Joan," Ren said smiling calmly.
The newly named Joan blushed at the way her master spoke before she tapped him on the shoulder and they both started to laugh.
Both advanced into the night as they shared their life stories.
There was born a great friendship between two people, one who one day sought his revenge and the other who was carrying it out.
...
...
The next day.
Right after Ren's conversation with Jalter, who was now called Joan, they both spent a few more hours talking to each other.
Ren told Joan in more detail all about this new world, about Factions, creatures among beings.
Joan had been extremely interested in Dragons, and she seemed to want to find one.
It made Ren shiver at the thought.
In this case it was due to Joan's power as the Witch of Dragons, the power that allowed her to enslave any Dragon at her will.
Having been bred by Gilles' desires, she possesses from birth the power of the Dragon type. It is believed to be an inverse phenomenon of saints who have anecdotes of dispersing the dragon species, such as Santa Marta or perhaps São Jorge. Joan Possesses a unique Charisma that makes dragons obey her.
Ren was kind of curious to see if it would affect him, that although Ren wasn't a Dragon he had Ddraig sealed inside him and so he was curious.
But the curiosity was mainly to know if this would affect beings like the Dragon God Ophis and the Dragon of Apocalypse Great Red.
Ren also told Joan that she had a descendant in this world and upon hearing the explanation Joan became extremely angry.
After being burned at the stake, DxD's Jeanne D'Arc ended up being exonerated by the Church who ended up admitting that they wrongly sentenced her to death.
With that the Church took Joan's ashes and performed various rituals with them and always chose young children to inherit the spirit of the Maiden of Orleans.
This gave an extraordinary increase in one's physical abilities to the point of rivaling supernatural beings and when that child died he was burned to pick up the ashes and perform rituals on new children to produce more powerful servants for the Church.
This had happened over and over again only for the Church to have strong servants to serve her.
And Ren also knew that the lives of these children must have been difficult, precisely the Church that boasted of having God on its side committed such horrendous acts.
And Joan was extremely angry about it, Ren wouldn't find it very surprising if Joan tried to burn down Church headquarters.
After that they both continued to talk, and the Holy Lance user had to admit that talking to Joan was pretty cool, although when she was usually embarrassed she ended up being rude, but Ren just found it funny.
Their conversation had gone on for a few more minutes before they went to sleep, as they both agreed that it would be best to continue the conversation in the morning.
Soon the day dawned as the sun rose over the horizon illuminating everything within reach and the day started early at Ren's house.
The room was packed while all of Ren's servants, the great Heroic Spirits, were doing their own thing.
Semiramis was sitting on a sofa while dozens of books were stacked around her, all of them spellbooks and books about magic.
The Queen of Assyria had been extremely fascinated about the magic of this world and with Ren's permission she had picked up several magical books to read.
Gilgamesh was casually sitting on a sofa with her legs crossed as she sipped her wine with a slight smile on her face.
Scathach was sitting on another sofa while also reading a book, talking about Celtic mythology, the Immortal Witch had shown great interest in what happened to her mythology in this world and so was looking at everything besides thinking about challenging her master to another battle .
The surprisingly inseparable duo Joan and Arturia were sitting happily while playing video games and having fun while laughing, and Arturia ate.
Okita was already sitting watching the two as she had Jin, the Avatar of Longinus [Canis Lykaon] in her lap, both had gotten along surprisingly well, perhaps because they were both beings of death among other things.
Everyone was calmly doing their thing as they wondered where their master was.
When they all woke up they had noticed that their master had disappeared, but their worry had quickly ended when they reached the kitchen and had noticed a feast ready and a letter from Ren warning that he was leaving.
Although they were worried, especially Okita, they all trusted Ren and doubted that anyone could do him any harm.
The servants' attention was taken away when the door of the house opened, none of them performed wafer actions as they knew it was due to the aura of energy.
The first to react to the arrival of the Sekiryuutei was precisely the Witch of Dragons.
