Shotmaker Concept

Here's the concept design for Metal Gear's first boss in the entire series, Shotmaker. About seven or eight years ago when I was more active on Facebook somebody messaged me wanting their likeness in the animation, similar to how the Fox Engine at the time was scanning in real people into MGSV; little did he know I'd give him such a prestigious role!

Design is still open to change as I'm not quite at the point in the animation where he makes his debut. But now with this done I need to work on the storyboards for the current scene I'm working on, which is the launch of Metal Gear's warhead.

I draw it frame by frame in Indesign then export the frames into Photoshop then render as an MP4, I used to edit in After Effects but I've recently moved to Premiere Pro.

Fantastic concept Mitchell. What's your pipeline process if you don't mind me asking. Are you mostly frame by framing it in software like TVP or Photoshop / AE hybrid? Really loving the look. It's just got this G.I. Joe vibe that I grew up on :)

Yeah, similar to Snake I designed him to be relatively simple so he's easier to animate.

That looks nice. I like how it's realistic but not overly detailed. Like he's not covered in a ridiculous amount of armor but can still move. It looks cool.
