Fortnightly Progress - 1st June

Man it does not feel like two weeks since the last one of these... Then the first week I was being driven mad by crash after crash after crash in an attempt to get the update out and the week after was so very chilled.

Still June was yet another really good month for the Patreon and while I don't  think we hit the $750 pledge level (attempted says yes, everything else says no, so I've got no idea) it was pretty close and that's just amazing. Thank you. 

Yeah, so I got it out like I said I would and arguably it was in a bad enough state that I shouldn't have bothered. Call that a learning experience and once more I'm sorry about that. 

I believe I have solved the problem and after going through nearly every single timer that had a loop with a fine tooth comb it's looking like it was all down to an errant copy of a condition pasted into the wrong timer that was causing all the mess. I haven't done anywhere near enough testing to be certain of that yet though, and I very much want to be certain so no hotfix for at least till tomorrow if not the weekend. 

Really want to get this right. 

On far more positive news I did get a chance to do some writing done on a tablet of all things while I was away and managed to get some real progress down on gaining new aspects via levelling up (both for you and your slavers). I've also come up with a bunch of semi-regular events to keep things varied and interesting. 

Before you worry I'm absolutely not delaying the hotfix to add them, might do a mini-update though with them afterwards as in most respects I don't think they'd be too complicated to do and I think they will add a lot to the game. 

I think you're probably as fed up on the Barges as I am about talking about it. On the first half I have had the biggest problem fixed which is a wonderful thing. Also it fixed something that I had a problem with both pieces which the artist claimed not to be able to see... no idea what's going on there. It's the kind of thing I can easily enough fix in gimp so sod it. If they don't say anything by next one of these I will sort it out and post it. 

Again no progress yet on the  Dragonmaid one but as I said last time Artist said he'd start work in June sometime so just a case of waiting on that one for now. 

New poll for the next commission(s) will go up after the hotfix is out so sometime at the weekend I guess. 

Alas soaking up a truly heroic amount of wine and sun is not incredibly conducive to sitting around coding on a laptop I'm sorry to say. I did get some stuff done though to at least some degree plugging away on the conversion and hit upon a neat idea to use the different way Twine works to RAGS to heighten the feeling of submission on general encounters. 

I also worked out that handling chests is going to be significantly more complicated as Twine (at least from what I've been able to work out and look out) is less of a fan of making variables out of using other variables at text so a lot of my usual RAGS tricks are completely unusable. 

If anyone does know how to change a variable by referring to the passage name for example I'd love to hear about it. I can work round it but if I don't have to that would be great. 

So I might do a new tier at a nominal $3 simply called 'I want more HMVs'. This is clearly on dodgier ethical grounds as I don't own either the source or musics, but I think this would probably be okay to simply source real feedback on interest on seeing more of them. I'd probably also do something like uploading first drafts of videos so people on that tier could get a look early. 

Still mulling that one other. I know some other HMV makers do have full on patreons, but regardless of what they're doing, I'm me, and I just don't want to take the piss here on what is always going to be a side-thing. 

And like last time, which turned out to be mostly accurate, some predictions of upcoming streams till the next fortnightly progress. These are not set in stone so keep an eye on the tumblr announcements or just follow me on Picarto for notifications if you're interested in catching them. Time especially will usually be the time listed or up to an hour later. Also listed is the likelihood the stream will happen on that date outside of unforeseeable circumstances.

As I mentioned I don't think we hit the tier for 10 hours of streams I could well be wrong and if so I may need to add some extra ones.
