Whether it was the numbers that helped construct the pyramids or the profit that pushed businesses to make certain choices regardless of the morals, everything was all about the numbers and nowadays those numbers were code and that code was an algorithm.
Flynn was just one of the many men in the tech world whose job it was to manage these algorithms, specifically he was to improve them. But the only way he thought algorithms would get any better is if they influenced people, rather than be influenced by people, if algorithms subliminally shifted someone’s thinking to actually buy a product, click that video, check out that album.
Unfortunately for Flynn, he’s right. It seems that the only way algorithms could get better is if they could start changing people to suit them…and he’s about to find out firsthand.
