I stare at ${keoanai_him}, the shock of what's happened hitting me all at once. I feel half-tethered, like part of me's floating away. "I need you to kiss me," I say quietly.
$!{keoanai_hisHerTheir} eyes widen. "What?"
"You don't have to," I say, my eyes darting from the caves in the distance to ${keoanai_him} and back again. "I just- This doesn't feel real. I don't feel... real."
$!{keoanai_hisHerTheir} gaze softens, and ${keoanai_he} stand${s_k}, wrapping me up in ${keoanai_hisHerTheir} arms. I tilt my head up but ${keoanai_he} do${es_k}n't meet me, instead pulling me into a tight hug.
"You are real," ${keoanai_he} murmur${s_k} in my ear. "You're here. You're real."
It helps.
"No kiss then, huh?" I joke when I start to come back to myself, my voice cracking as I laugh weakly into ${keoanai_hisHerTheir} shirt.
"I would give you that, if it would help. But I think you need this more."
I tighten my arms around ${keoanai_him}, then step back, wiping away a few stray tears from my eyes. "Let's go," I say resolutely. "We can talk about what happened with everyone when we get back."

I wrote this and immediately had to cut it, because it prevents something important to the plot from happening a second later. But ugh it was so hard to cut. I'm glad I get to share it here, I hope you enjoy it! <3
