Hey gearheads!
Monthly update on the 1st, woo and there's lot to update you on!
Seems like we're constantly rebuilding experiences, but this time well be sticking with the build for a while. Unity just had a big VR push in their current release. The AR changes spawned an overhaul on both which have been combined to XR. This means VR is a lot easier to use on this release, more stable and allows for more features, more streamlined editing and better graphics. Judging by Unity's release schedule we should be good here for at least the next 3 - 6 months.
The RWBY Trainer is coming along nicely. In the previous scene layouts, you've seen the inside of a cell from a demo scene and a custom build large room. Now we have a more flushed out level of a pathway and 4 dungeon cells, each with one of the main girls. We also have the splash/loading scene which is a recreation of Ruby's intro into the series.
Next we're working on reintegrating the tentacle mini game in with the updated lip sync. We have more voice over to bring in, new sound effects and Adamar will be working with us on new scenes starting with the bedroom scene.
Lots of progress has been made with the POV experiences. Thanks to the betas we have confirmation that the new streamlined version of the VR camera system is ready to roll out and we're able to add in multiple characters, so the RWBY combo was just the beginning. We'll have the audio remakes from VoiceLikeCandy and have been working with a couple SFX guys for the extras.
To avoid lose of immersion we plan to change things up with the audio as well, by testing different options like pitch changes (like with Pyrrha) and even an option to set the audio to your preference of standard moaning, moaning with dialogue or a more generic hentai style. Lip sync is currently matched to the standard moaning so we'll be working on lip sync for the additional options as well.
The subjects for the POV experiences will be a combo of previous/current request from you guys and topical characters for our exclusive deal with vrporn.com.
We always have an eye out for opportunities to work with other people in the community to deliver higher quality content to you guys. Recently we started working with Dude017 on SFX, J&J on animation swaps, Adamars returned for more animation work and we've started exploring Blender VR with MetsSFM.
The 2 main possibilities for VR video we're exploring are through scene capture in Unity or Rendering Animations in Blender with the VR settings. The next version of Blender will blow the current VR out of the water, but the current one is decent for now. The problem with both these methods are time. We've spent the last week testing a 360 render and it's taken 6 days (and counting) to render an 8 second scene. There are some potential solutions, like tweaking the settings and/or using a company that handles the renders for you at a reasonable price. We'll need to explore this avenue a little more, but we are that much closer to being able to provide a comparable VR experience for Gear VR, Daydream and Cardboard.
All in all it's been a great year. I'm glad you guys believe in the vision, have been along for the ride and continue to hang in for more great things to come. Thank you very much for the support, encouragement, criticism and feedback. It takes a village and with everyone help we'll all get to live our dreams in ways never before imagined!
