So here’s a little something I thought you might find interesting. It’s a peek at my script for Chapter 2. I’ve mentioned this in the past, but I didn’t actually write a script for HSH Chapter 1. The story mostly existed in my head, and as the comic progressed I’d write out bits of dialog before I’d start a new page. I’ve never done anything like this before.
The script is written like a screenplay. There are no “Panel 1 – character does this, Panel 2 – character says that” descriptions. I did this so I could focus on the sequence of events exclusively, leaving panel conception to the point at which each page is laid out. Figuring out how to get what I've written turned into a comic page can be challenging, but it's extremely rewarding too.
The script isn’t something I follow to a T either, and that leaves my paneling process flexible, so I’m able to make changes based on inspiration or just in case I have to accommodate a new sequence. You may notice some changes already! The script is 37 pages long, and extrapolating what I have… I’m guessing Chapter 2 will be somewhere in the range of 60 pages (give or take a little).
I'm kinda proud of this script and I was thinking it might be neat to release the whole thing when the comic is done. I wonder how different the comic will be by the end of it!
