Pricing Update

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you who’ve been with us for a while — your support means a lot, and it’s not taken for granted.

We’ve recently made some updates to our membership pricing. If you’re already a member, you’re locked in at your current rate for as long as you stay subscribed. No changes there. Just a heads-up though: if you cancel and decide to come back later, you’ll be rejoining at the new rate.

We also cleaned up and clarified the tier descriptions to better reflect what’s ahead. As we gear up for the game’s release, we’re putting more effort into making the Patreon experience more active and worthwhile for everyone.

Thanks again for your support!

I'm not going to fault you for thinking like this, I just want to explain why I'm doing it. I'm doing a lot of price discovery. I poured a great deal of time and energy into doing this whole thing - there have been over 50 versions of the first game. It started out as a choose your own adventure that was radically different from what you see now, basically just "do I go left or right" style gameplay. I had to learn portions of html, javascript, drawing, sound, on top of improving the writing and building a coherent storyline. As far as I'm concerned, the first Parasite Infection has several games worth of content for an extremely undervalued price. It's fine - that's kind of how indie games go and I can't complain about the opportunity here. However, at the end of the day this is a lot of effort and I'm trying to figure out what people are willing to pay and what kind of support I can receive without going too far. All I can say to you at this point is that I'm extremely grateful for your past support, I hope you buy PI2 (which will have a LOT in it, it's going to be the best bang for your buck for sure), and I hope you had a good time so far.

Can't say I'm really a fan of this change. I joined at the beginning of March at the $2 tier, then upgraded to the $7 tier to see the comics I was trying to see. At that time I think that was the highest, except for the one person who bought in at $10 to pay for the MediaFire thing. Later in the month, you added a $15 tier for long form comics. I bought in. The comic was pretty good, worth sacrificing one $8 coffee. Now you've increased $7 to $9, $15 to $20, and added a $30 tier. I'm not even sure what one gets at $30/mo, but it's a lot less than two World of Warcraft subscriptions, or whatever the standard subscription unit of measurement is these days. And you've added sunk cost fallacy and loss anxiety, to boot. So nah, sorry, this has ballooned way to quickly for me. I'm out. Best wishes of success to you. You truly have mastered AI art generation for /d/.
