Progress Post - What is happening?

It's time to circle the wagons and figure out just what is happening for Parasite Infection.  The plan is for the game to consist of three major sections:

- Parasite Infection (part 1, 2, and 3)
- Two Parasite Infection Expansions (part 4 and part 5)

Parasite infection is finished and available on Patreon, Steam, Discord (via direct download), and Itch.io.  I'll be altering the price on Itch.io soon to match the Steam price and then letting people know where else to get it.  The Patreon tiers will not be changing for the forseeable future.  The Discord channel will not be changing for the forseeable future.

Part 4 and 5 will not be available on the Steam version until they are actually completed, but will be accessible in their incomplete forms on the Patreon versions as development progresses.

Current work: Cleaning up bugs in part 1-3, working on the plot and fundamental mechanics of part 4.  The plot of part 5 will stay roughly the same I don't see any need for an overhaul there but it is probably bugridden at this point in time.

My official position as far as making money off of fan projects is concerned - I'm okay with it happening.  If you want to adapt the lore/game mechanics into a new format and you are able to sell it then go ahead, I think that's pretty cool.  I only ask that you reference the source material and link to either patreon, steam, or discord.

Part 4 current focus

Will be focusing on a lot of gender conversion, mind manipulation, mind control, and science fiction.  Currently working on figuring out the Arena mechanics and how to integrate that into gameplay in a way that makes sense.

I tried writing out hard-coded plotlines for a single character.  Basically the idea was that each character would have specific sexual encounters with 3 other characters and the plots would sort of weave through the game.  It's way too much work, given the number of characters in part 4.  I'm going to try making it so that every character can do an arena match against any other character, with modular loss/win passages that will be vague enough to make sense no matter what you mix/match.  If certain character interactions seem interesting, maybe we'll have special interactions for specific pairings.

What works and what doesn't work (wanted to write this portion for a long time)

The rainbow color of werms was, in general, a bad idea.  It was a way of trying to create alternatives without much effort and I think it's been more of a pain.  The red and blue werms are good, they seem to have character.  The purple and white werms feel like afterthoughts.  I'll be focusing less on these if I can help it although lots of people seem to like the idea of blue/red werms and its getting heavily integrated into the plot so they cannot be removed at this point.  I'm hoping I can phase out the white/purple werms though.

Some of the weird mutations have been interesting.  Penis canal docking is pretty hot.  Breast-to-breast sex is incredibly hot and very unique to this fetish (the closest thing would be dicknipples + dickvagina).  Hand canals don't seem to get much attention.  Ass starfish are kind of interesting but underexplored.

Multivagina/multibreast doesn't seem that interesting and is a real pain to code.  Multi-bodyparts in general are more of a generic fetish rather than parasite specific.  Multivagina is less interesting than multibreast, I'm not sure why.  There will not be a lot of focus on this.

Pregnancy art and focus on pregnancy was a good idea.  I was initially resistant to it but it's clearly a big part of the fetish and a core concept.

I've redone the mind control scenes many, many times.  I think the best iteration is the colored text replacement method.  I'll be using that for the rest of the mind control scenes in the game.  There was a minigame concept that didn't really work well, and then a 'remove player control' concept that put you on rails after mind control.  Kind of interesting but didn't really integrate with the rest of the game.

Stealth parasites are extremely important, one of the later concepts added to the game but it's really good and still underexplored.

Modeseven has not responded for a while.  I'll try again, but likely will have to look for another artist.  They've done more than enough though, their art has been fantastic and I'm very appreciative of what they've done so far.

Once the expansions are done, there are ideas for Parasite Infection 2.  It will not be text/image based though, if we do continue we'll go to either 2d or 3d.  Unity will probably be involved.

A bit late, but I've been an off and on supporter for probably over 7 years now and I wanted to say great job on sticking with this and creating something as fun, interesting, and sexy as this. Thanks for all the hard work and for persevering through difficult times! Cheers!

Always thought the White parasites were troublesome to get and not that interesting, but I have continually appreciated Purple (at least in the position I've self assigned it to) as the line between the parasite types (Red- Overly aggressive, Blue- Very submissive, Purple- Balanced middle ground).

Maybe make the red and Blue look a little bit different as an excuse for the new artist??

The Ren"py version sounds interesting also a RPGMaker versionsounds good as well.

There's an RPGMaker "version" in the works? Dope. (Obviously I know it's a fan-made endeavor, but still.)
