I love Italian food. Having been to Italy a few times, it's different then what I can get in the US and UK, but the worst Italian food I've eaten was in Rome, a place called Zeus. There were six of us, the table next to us arrived after we did and were eating their dessert course by the time we got our drinks (everyone who entered within our first hour there, left before we did). The food was simply the worst food I've ever eaten, and having been in the Army, that's saying something. Our food was between lukewarm and cold. None of it was seasoned, not even salt (I was trained as a hospital cook in the Army, which deals with special dietary requirements). Feral, shit-flinging, rabies-ridden monkeys would have done better. The rest of our food experience in Italy was excellent.

The women's pockets issue came up some years ago on a woman scientist's twitter feed. Though past middle age, this is something that had never entered my mind and I asked the scientist about it. I was rebuffed for not knowing and told to do my own research. So I did. I came to the conclusion that there is no consensus about the origin or enduring nature of this trend. This must have come up on the SGU at some previous episode. Can anyone point me to that episode?

Diamond dust dispersal in the stratosphere: How much energy (additional CO2) will it take to produce the dust? A lot, I suspect. On balance, even if it's less efficient, it might be more effective to use a different product.

I'd just like to point out that currently, there is one planet in the solar system that is more likely than Europa to harbor life; it actually has a probability of 1 to harbor life. And while the probability of Europa to harbor life could very well rise to 1 soon, we're not there quite yet. :)

I said something similar about 30. 31 is like, "OK, we're really doing this"
